Travel In South Korea For Thai Citizens

Featured Replies

Soon I'm going to work in Seoul for at least 9 months and I would like to have my Thai girlfriend joining me. I know that Thai citizens get a visa-on-arrival for 90 days. The question is whether or not it will be possible for her to simply re-enter the country after 90 days (like the visa-run in Thailand)? Does anyone have experience in such matters?

Cheers,

Andy

You are correct that Thais can get up to 90 days on arrival as a visitor, I am aware that Thais are subjected to a higher degree of scrutiny than other nationals when entering the country, though when I went with my partner a few years ago she had absolutly no problem.

If I were you I would try and formailse her stay there and don't rely on "border runs" many countries frown on this practice.

You can extend a stay in South Korea http://www.hikorea.go.kr/pt/CvlapplInfoDetailR_en.pt?cvlapplCd=12700000094&locale=en&cvlapplGbSeq= I would have a read through this site and consider the options.

Maybe somebody will have recent experience.

Thank you very much. I didn't know about that Korean site.

Nevertheless, if anybody can contribute recent experiences... would be much appreciated.

I have a Thai lady friend that booked a group tour with a couple of her friends. She didn't go with her farang bf. At immigration she was stopped and asked a lot of questions. Her English isn't that great and she was refused. The tour guide noticed she didn't make it through and went back and talked to them. She convinced immigration to let her in. I would suggest being with your gf when she wants to enter.
