Help On Tourist Visa Going Over By 2 Days

Featured Replies

Hi. My australian friend arrived at bkk on march 19. His flight returns 20 april.

He came in at night from melbourne to bkk.

He will be 31 days. He leaves on the 20 april (the 31st day) at 8am at suvi airport.

Is it best to extend this visa, officially ss,he comes, here every 6 weks, and never extended before.

if he leaves by air on day 31 there is no overstay fine for him, but he will have overstayed and that will be noted in his passport. So far that has no consequences for getting another visa or entry into Thailand.

Best is always to stay legal and get an extension, but if this is not a regular occurrence that he overstays he can consider not bothering with an extension for 1,900 baht and a passport photo. In fact, immigration will probably tell him to just overstay.

Would not cost much more (depending on where he is) to cross a border next week and return for a legal 15 day visa exempt entry to take him to departure time. Overstay of two days (which my fingers count) would be a 1,000 baht fine but likely not have any trouble from it but will be noted in passport and take a few extra minutes on exit.

I make it 33 days, so a 1,500 baht fine.

Did my math and also come to 3 days of overstay. In that case a 7 day "extension" for 1,900 baht and a picture might be more in order to stay legal. It will not be a big problem if he doesn't, but keeping it all legal is always best.

Indeed 13 + 20 = 33

Day 19 counts as day 1 and 20th will also count as a day
