Thai Men Not Allowed In Clubs!

Many reasons:

places where illegal activity takes place they are worried the Thai is BIB.

Also worried the Thai maybe stepping on someone elses illegal activities toes.

Fights between Thais and Farangs are usually only when the Thais are outnumbering the Farang many to one or weapons are involved so that maybe the case in the nightclub and want to avoid that and drunk idiot farangs picking fights with Thais.

In hotels and tours Thai women are not allowed when they think the girl is a prostitute and either don't want them associated with their company or are worried about them stealing or just going mental like some do.

They don't think the Thai can afford the drinks prices or that the club know what 95-100% of Thai girls in Farang orientated clubs do for a living and the Thai guy won't pay tourist 'prices' and won't pay the ladydrink price that suddenly appears on the bill in a supposedly normal farang orientated nightclub.

In a nutshell..If i can think of another reason, the night-club owner would choose making money, rather than sweeping broken bottles and furniture.whistling.gif

So you all agree that keeping the Thai men out of the clubs is the best way......Then coming to Thailand (Pattaya) and mixing with the locals means only the women? Taking your family out, means only the women? How sad.....

Who is agreeing with it ? Most people are just pointing out the possible thinking of the people who impliment it.

It certainly seems like the Thai owners of these clubs think so.Why not buy a Pattaya club yourself and pack it out with Thai guys, there's obviously a big business opportunity going begging here?

How can they do that to locals. And what would happen if this happened in our home countries?

It's a business decision and not personal. Everything about the business in that particular location is about big spending foreigners. The business dynamic has no tolerance, or can afford, to upset the harmony.

Forget about drunken falangs as they'll be dealt with when required. The business caters to foreign males with an interest in Thai ladies.

The business doesn't do favours or concerned in discrimination. It's all about cashflow and how to relieve the tourist of their hard earned.

If I were self-employed and ran a business, I'd do what I needed to maximise revenue.

It's true, anyone who's ever been in an all Thai nightclub, like Differ in Chiang Mai has witnessed personally spontaneous fights break out nightly.Just idiots who can't handle their drink,as opposed to Westerners who drink like fishes, take a bargirl home and promptly fall asleep.

Not really a difficult choice for a club owner now,is it?They've made their bed and now they have to lie in it,Som Nom Na!

I've heard that Caribou concerts are the same, full of drunken <deleted> and they regularly have to stop the music to calm down the watching savages, what a joke!
If you behave like an animal expect to be treated like one,it's Thai owners banning Thais, nothing to do with Farangs so stop being another sad, misguided apologist!

Ulu, you think Farang can hold his drink? We are all the same when it comes to being inebriated, makes no difference what part of the world you come from, it's the personality that forms from being inebriated that makes the difference......Thai men are no different from the rest of us. If guns are a problem, then why not do a search at the door like they do with the Thai ladies. I can't find a solution to how farang treat Thai ladies in the club (Touchy feely situation) when Thai men are looking, but this can be the same situation between a farang and another farang's Thai girlfriend, no? Take the weapons out of the equation, you got the same problem...Thai or non-Thai.

As I qualified previously,it's a medical fact that yes,Farangs can hold their drink better!Just google 'Asian Flush' if you don't believe me,their bodies break it down far less efficiently than a Westerner's due to a missing enzyme.

dude, people with asian flush actually hold their drinks better, they are incapable or metabolizing alcohol proper to get alcohol "high"

If the thai person speaks english they can just say they are not thai, and say they have no ID. Works a lot with clubs in tourist locations, but thats besides the point. I find it absolutely ridiculous to have a no thai policy in thailand even with the already valid points made about violence.

Unless the OP is prepared to say which clubs he's referring to, there's no point in him making sweeping generalisations about policies. Clubs have the right to refuse entry to anyone if they believe they have cause to. Some gogo bars do have a policy, for understandable reasons.

Let's hear which clubs have a "no Thai men" policy....

Fair point

Same on Khao San, I was there book shopping (nice turnover in the book shops there) and we went to book a minivan-ferry package to Koh Samet, Oh, no thai allowed (my wife). They asked her in Thai 'Is the ticket for you?' 'Yes' 'No, cannot, Thai cannot go'.

Thais are equal opportunity racists, probably suspect her bag wouldn't contain anything worth stealing when compared to Sven the iPod and tablet'd tourist out to discover himself in Buddhist heaven. rolleyes.gif

This one's easy - they just want to protect their fellow countrymen / women from being treated like cattle, abused and ripped of like farangs are on those buses from Khao San Road.

He's right, you're wrong. The Aussie aboriginals also struggle with it... gen yourself up. I would also suggest not trying to apply Western logic regards issues of this nature when in this part of the world.

My pitty is limited, though I understand your sentiment.

I am generally against this kind of "you shall not pass"- policy, but Thais do it a lot to farang (double- pricing, karaoke bars etc.) so...what goes up, must come down somehow!

It looked like all agree with it, sorry for the assumption. The bars were the Bamboo bar, and the other (Did not look at the name, but was is a building with many clubs near the end of W/S) on the top floor. I read about all the problems with Thai men in bars and clubs, I've also read and seen about the problems with EU drunks in their own countries, but still, this is their country. Would you be happy if they did this to you in your country?

Does the club(s) allow Chinese? How about Filipinos? Singaporeans? Koreans? Just wonder if the staff can always tell the difference because I can't.

@Almera. "I was on Khao San to buy books" cheesy.gifcheesy.gif

I'm often scouring Soi Cowboy for antiques!

There really aren't that many 65 year old bar girls so you might have to look elsewhere. smile.png

Surely anything over 50-years-old, not 65 years, qualifies as being antique ? smile.png

It appears many support the rights of business owners to discriminate. Lovely, so I guess there will be fewer complainers about double pricing against foreigners, shops chasing foreigners out, police siding with Thais against foreigners, land ownership laws against foreigners, jobs restrictions against foreigners and other whinging about discrimination against farang, real and imagined.

Put the shoe on the other foot, would you tolerate being barred from a pub in your own country, simply because that owner preferred to serve tourists?

My partner went to rent a car on Beach Rd. in Jomtien and was told they didn't rent to Thais. He had a valid license, credit card, etc., but just seemed to accept the fact that he was refused a car rental.

Always amusing reading people talk about KSR who have clearly never been there. A lot of guys seem to be under the impression it is filled with gogo bars or something.

KSR is actually a good place to go to buy used English language books. There are several good used book stores as well as a bunch of book stalls. You can sell your books when you finish reading them and buy books that other foreigners have sold.

Anyplace that bars Thai customers should be avoided. They are not doing this out of the goodness of their heart, because they love foreigners so much and want to give them better deals. They do it because they are ripping foreigners off and the presence of Thai customers interferes with the goal of extracting cash from foreigners. The Thais take up space that could be filled with gullible foreigners willing to overpay for poor quality and they will sometimes warn the clueless foreigners about what a rip off the place is.

That's because 'they all look the same to us' whereas the savvy Brit can pretty much tell a scouser from a brummie or a geordie from a teuchter... without hearing then speak first. The poor Thai who can spot an Isaan hayseed from 50 paces on a foggy night wouldn't have a hope in hell with the average crowd at the Tower in Hull on a Friday night.

I would imagine many Westerners would gravitate towards any club refusing entrance to small-minded,easily offended,hot-headed,I'm Gangsta,non-English speaking locals out to spend any money their female counterpart has worked hard for.Long may it continue,I hope it spreads as it sounds like a great Unique Selling Point to me!

Hi Nanlaew, no, the rels were not upset, and just shrugged it off....But not sure how they really felt. I will say that the other day I noticed Tony's gym in Naklua posted ''Thais only'', maybe Tony wants a pay back :-)

Anyway, segregation is never a good thing in any country, and only breeds more hatred. Club owners, or any other business should not have the freedom to do this. .....even with, or without the excuses. They started the business, they should deal with it!!

Maybe, for the clubs, a professional bouncer business should be set up? Someone with experience that is........Could be a good start of a new business idea :-)
