Thanks for your replies guys, though the dynasty does look great, we're looking for something a bit quieter than soi 4.

Kind regards

Check out agoda.

Type in Bangkok, it will give you about 5 options, choose Sukhumvite Road and on the right, search for 1500 baht.

Sawassdee.com is very useful also. Try looking for places on Sukhumvit Soi 8. Many decent places in that price range.

Hahaha...the Dynasty is only for those there for the hookers. What a dump. Only marginally better than Nana Hotel...

This place is very nice and classy, 1400 including breakfast (1200 in low season), down a quiet dead-end soi, very convenient (about a 300 meter walk in):

rolleyes.gif Problem is: Likes and Dislikes are personal opinions.

However here is one I like.

Check Inn, 2/20,21,22 on Sukhumvit 41 (Soi Promphang)

Soi 41, small Soi close to the Tops Market on Sukhumvit Road.

Disadvantage: Rooms are small with limited space to put your luggage and toiletries in the Room.

Advantages:

1. Good Wifi free in room

2, Clean Room, with sattelite/cable television, some English channels.

3. Good Buffet breakfast included in room rate,

4. Friendly staff and good English especially receptonist who speaks excellant English.

6, Microwave and hotplate in room, Thai and Japanese pre-cooked meals in the nearby Tops market, Re-heat them in microwave or cook small meals on hotplate for late night snack /meals if that's your thing.

Normal price between 1500 to 1800 Baht per night, but often discounted and often you can get room for 900 to 1400 Baht depending on room.

Think 1300 Baht as average.

Well worth the money with the main disadvanrage being small compact rooms.

The micro-wave in room and built in hotplates are big plus.

Right now, discounted on Agoda for 900 Baht per night for small room and 1300 Baht for slightly bigger room.

I like this place.... stayed there for 10 days last month.

Try The Atlanta, at the bottom end of Soi 2 Sukhumvit, very family friendly, with a pool and travel shop.

To late to modify earlier post but Soi 8 at the citidine or Salil hotels were very nice places.

I have to assume you've never been there or at least not recently. I stay there whenever in Bangkok for many years now. The back rooms are remodeled and are very nice and it is quiet, this was just a couple of months ago when I stayed last for a meeting - no hookers included.

I agree....the newer rooms at the back are fine and have good showers too.

Location is central. For 1500 Baht though? Is it not more these days?

Most decent places now in Lower Sukhumvit are 2000 Baht plus....more is the pity. Quality places from 3000 it seems....

I have stayed many places in Suk area but my favorite for past two years is the Bangkok Boutique Hotel on Asoke right by the Petchaburi Metro station (1 stop from Sukhumvit). Clean, modern, great staff, all amenities (no swim pool). Have stayed there at least five times, each one good. Book at Agoda and all-in cost (includes breakfast) is about 1100 baht. Location is just south of the canal and opposite Rutning Eye Hospital, mostly office building area but many shops, eateries, etc.

Asoke Suites Hotel..

Easy access to everything.

Thanks again guys, I'm checking them all out, not stayed in hotels for a while as when I was in bkk last time I was in an apartment.

Regards

We just loved the Park Plaza on Soi 18 Sukhumvit but it is 4 or 5 star and we had a special deal from latestays.com Would certianly recommend there or Citadines on soi 16 both accessible from Asoke BTS. No breakfast at the latter.

They have have breakfast at citidines Soi 8 though not very good. Not tryin ta shill here but, Citidines Soi 8 apartments were one of the best values by far for me in over 12 years of prob 20 trips to Bangkok so far. Just don't add the breakfast to your room. :) I usually trot over to "the game" sports bar an restaurant across Sukhumvit and get a great breakfast there. Although they are kinda pricey.

Sorry, but...the park Plaza is a 3+ by all standards.

Who told you it is 5 star?

I am working in the travel industry and I am not mocking you. Just asking out of interest.

Made the mistake of staying on soi 4 once what a dump, obviously great if your a sex tourist ,there is some nice hotels there but the quality of the tourist there let's the place down bigtime.

I like Soi 22. The Admiral Suites and Check Inn (the old Regency Park) are two cheap options. The latter was undergoing renovation last time I stayed there, but there was minimal disturbance and the price was very reasonable.

Tune hotel soi 14 new hotel only small rooms but 1100 night book through booking.com and you get all extras included tv towels wi fi aircon, terminal 21 mall at the end of soi at sukhumvit (food hall on top floor)Asoke bts 100 metres, clean good security
