Pheu Thai candidate Yaowapa Wongsawat took advantage of the long weekend before Songkran to woo voters in Chiang Mai

CHIANG MAI: -- Pheu Thai candidate Yaowapa Wongsawat used the long weekend to canvas for votes for the by-election in Chiang Mai's Constituency 3.

Yesterday she concentrated on San Kamphaeng and Doi Saket districts. Joining her campaigning were party heavyweights - Commerce Minister Boonsong Teriyapirom, Interior Minister Charupong Ruangsuwan, Science Minister Worawat Auapinyakul and MP Korkaew Pikulthong.

Her main opponent, Democrat candidate Kingkarn na Chiang Mai, met supporters at various markets in San Kamphaeng. She was accompanied by MP and former Bangkok governor Apirak Kosayodhin, a deputy party leader.

Absentee voting is on Friday, ahead of the ballot on April 21.

This is going to fascinating to watch. Thaksin clone number four moving up the ladder versus someone with a last name of Chiang Mai..... I suppose both candidates would have a tough time identifying with the little people.. :-)

It is her way of showing transparency.

As for how much money is being used to buy votes. Find out what there total budget is take 90% of that and you will have a pretty close approximation of it.
