hellodolly
This is a Perfect example of why Thailand and other countries do a back ground check for everyone that wants to even visit ... and it clearly doesn't work, so I guess it's also a perfect example of why hassling millions of visitors with bs bureaucracy to give the illusion they're stopping a-holes like this guy, is senseless. I can just see it all now. Immigration line up entering Thailand at swampy now two miles long.
Potosi
This is a Perfect example of why Thailand and other countries do a back ground check for everyone that wants to even visit. Before even a Tourist visa is allowed there should be a back ground check to keep trash like this guy out of any country... Good luck with that. How are they supposed to find names like Arne Østerud, Lukáš Železný, Aybüke Öykü, Влади́мир Ильи́ч Улья́нов in databases?

Did they also convicted him in the US and Malta like this ? Edited April 13, 2013 by Thorgal
GAZZPA
we dont want him back here keeping him for years at the tax payers exspence stay in thailand with the rest them Just sending him back to where he got his training. What a stupid comment. Everyone, anywhere in any country is sickened by a man like this. This has no cultural boundaries, just universal disgust. Perhaps this website should vet it's members for people like you making deeply offensive comments. Totally inappropriate for such a tragic situation,, I feel for the children and their families and I pray that they get the justice they deserve. Thorgal
He did his time in the US and Malta. He can't be convicted any more for those crimes. He can only be repatriated to the UK for preventive measures. What are in fact the latest charges here in Thailand ?

briboy
I hate the things that much that it scares me sometimes, it`s not so much now with the kids, they will come back to this point in their life forever, AFTER they realise that it not them that has done wrong, the hate, anger and everything that goes with it will be there, then they look for a way to get rid of it, be alchol, drugs, cruilty to people, what ever it stays there AND needs to be released...... khunken
He is truly a sick pervert. Does anyone actually know if chemical castration is legal in the UK? Just locking him up for a while & releasing him again is certainly not the answer. Neither is the other extreme favoured by the usual hang-em-high nuts. I suspect he'll get the Gary Glitter treatment.

dapsolapsalai
Does anyone actually know if chemical castration is legal in the UK? Is this a serious question? Of course it isn't. Threads of this nature eventually evolve in who can be the most outraged and come up with the most barbaric punishment. Well done for continuing the trend.
tragickingdom
Good for him, but what about those morons on the picture? Aren't that the same guys that were spotted on the back of killed Rhino's in South Africa to show off their trophy. Luckily all under cover policemen look the same in Thailand. Same shoes, same clothing store, same hair dresser and occasionally the Gypsy look with the amulets. It is clear that the nose of this British man was not working. youngXpat
'However, how long Mr Glass had been in Phuket – and Patong in particular – remains unclear' W-T-F! How can it be unclear where he's been? Has he been working in a hotel or not? Has he got a passport or not?? More alarmingly, how can people commit these terrible offences on multiple continents and still be allowed to move around freely? I thought there was a lot of dialogue with different international police forces these days? Obviously not enough!

There is nothing barbaric about chemical castration & I mentioned it as a preference to the hang-em-high opinion. Now, have you anything sensible to say? Apparently some people imagine 'chemical castration' is removal of organs using chemicals, versus a total deadening of sex drives using medication. And it is not legal everywhere. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemical_castration It maybe legal in test programs in UK if one believes the Mirror. http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/reality-check-with-polly-curtis/2012/mar/13/prisons-and-probation-criminal-justice The Mirror reports today: "100 paedophiles are chemically castrated in jail." The story claims that: • A treatment programme involving 100 prisoners at Whatton prison, a specialist prison for sex offenders in Nottinghamshire, has seen them undergo chemical "castration". • The drug used is called leuprorelin, which is marketed as Prostap. It reduces the prisoners' testosterone levels to those of prepubescent children. • The scheme is entirely voluntary. • The scheme has government backing. The Ministry of Justice said: "We support the use of pharmaceutical interventions for high risk sex offenders given the evidence that it can be useful in reducing risk for some perpetrators." KuhnPaen
What the hell does being a pedo have to do with being a "sex fiend"? One can be a sex fiend and be married, single, old, young, or just Charlie Sheen. I thought, when I read the headline, that the guy was running around Phuket wagging his balls in girls faces, or having sex on crowded elevators. This guy is just a "sick XXXX" Being a pedo and an abuser has nothing to do with being a sex fiend. Stupid article as usual. Thorgal
I wonder if "serial sex offender" was listed as his occupation on his work permit? Thai and UK authorities will promote this arrest-case as a success. Not wise to try to explain this success somewhere in US, Malta and New-Zealand...and others if not-reported... International judicial coordination system failed seriously since 1974. How many other potential sexual aggressors are known and still free ? Markaew
Have you noticed that most of the recent news is about guys that are 57 years old? Markaew, FIO, in a study of paedophiles, more than 85% are homosexual males over 50 years old. Their victims are (just under 98%) boys aged 10 - 14. Contrary to 'pop' opinion young female victims are just over 2%. Link please. That doesn't sound right at all. So: link please. Stoffel45, please back-up your statement with something more concrete. Your statement sounds a bit opinionated.

"A bit opinionated"? Actually, no. He didn't give an opinion that he is excessively committed to, he made what he purports to be a statement of fact. Much bolder and much more warranting some support and, given that alleged fact, a defense. Edited April 13, 2013 by SteeleJoe
