Popular Post sk1max
Hi, a close friend of mine Lance (56) a long time resident of Chiang Mai and his running partner Ahoo (42?) are running 21 marathons and trying to do it in 21 days. It was Ahoo's idea as he is an avid runner with a difference, he is almost completely deaf and is from the Aka tribe near Chiang Rai. I believe the run is to raise awareness and solidarity between the various hill tribes of Northern Thailand. The run has been sponsored by various organizations The runs will end with a meeting at the Privy Council in Bangkok and hopefully a brief meeting with His Majesty The King, but that has not been confirmed. Anyone interested in following their progress can do so on http://www.sports-tracker.com/ and type in 21 marathons. If you select 'workout overview' you can leave an encouraging comment if you are at all impressed. As of today they have completed 7 of the 21 marathons taking them just past Lampang. I'm sure by the time they make it to Bangkok they will have made quite a stir in Thailand.
ARISTIDE
Not Impossible, in the US people run ultra-marathon in the heat like this too. Thanks for the news.
saakura
Not Impossible, in the US people run ultra-marathon in the heat like this too. Thanks for the news. Not berating the champions who run the Ultramarathon, it is a display of supreme fitness, but to run 21 marathons in 21 days is one of the things that beats running one Ultramarathon. CobraSnakeNecktie
well short of the record of 365 consecutive marathons http://www.worldrecordacademy.com/sports/most_marathons_run_on_consecutive_days_Stefaan_Engels_sets_world_record_112104.html
sk1max
Obviously not impossible as they hope to finish in style, just trying to put up a catchy title to the post, so relax.
DLock
That is a huge feat and I hope they finish and get that audience with The King. I can't imagine running that far every single day for 21 days in this heat. Hope they have good running shoes and a good crew to help them make it to the end. Good Luck to the guys. It will be an awesome achievement.

DesertRose
Good luck to them! I'm unlikely to do 21 marathons in my entire life. I'm duly impressed
hellodolly
well short of the record of 365 consecutive marathons http://www.worldrecordacademy.com/sports/most_marathons_run_on_consecutive_days_Stefaan_Engels_sets_world_record_112104.html Astounding feats. Not wishing to take away any thing from there accomplishments But I would like to point out they were younger men and we don't know what type of terrain they were running over. We do know there are some hills to be conquered on the way to Bangkok

rene123
Obviously not impossible, but a definite physical test of endurance. And even more so in the Thai heat. The average walking speed of a physically fit adult is approximately 3 miles per hour. Therefore, in an average 10 hour day of activity that would make about 30 miles per day. A marathon is a bit over 26 miles and the competitors do it in under 3 hours. The champions do it in a little over 2 hours.
