Hi,

I'm coming back to Thailand on the 25th may for the birth of our baby on the 30th may, and want to get a passport for the baby. I'm only staying for 5 weeks.

If I was to apply for the passport at the UK embassy in Bangkok, doe's my passport need to sent off with the application or do I just need to take it with me with my birth certificate and the baby's birth certificate? will my wife need to be with me?

Or can I apply for a passport when I get back England?

I need to get this done fairly quickly as I will be applying for my wife's settlement visa later in the year.

Thanks,

Jim.

You can apply in the UK or in Thailand, it's far cheaper in the UK.

In Thailand you have to attend the Embassy, you have to supply a copy of your passport but it doesn't get sent off.

You can register the child at the embassy, at a cost, or you supply local birth certificates of the child and mother, both translated.

Thanks theoldgit,

Will we be able to apply for the passport without the mothers birth certificate?

My wife lost her birth certificate a long time ago, or do we not need it if we register the birth?

Thanks,

Jim.
