Hello,

I am married to a Thai lady. We have a son together who is nearly 3 years old.

We are wondering if my wife can apply for our son's uk passport? (To avoid the cost of 3 of us having to travel and stay in BKK). If so, can she just take photocopies of our passports or do we need to show originals at the embassy? I ask this because my wife is about to apply for her settlement visa and we are hoping that the documents needed for our son's passport application do not need to be sent away to HK etc.

Also the embassy states that it opens at 8am most days. Can we just turn up and queue to make the application? If so, what time does queuing start?!

Can anyone give a rough idea of how long it takes to make the application actually inside the embassy? I realise the processing time may take around 5 or 6 weeks, but my wife has made an early appointment for the visa application at vfs (how long does it take to walk from the embassy to vfs?)

And another thing...

Thank you very much for any advice you can give, and thank you for the advice you have all given which is so easily available on here...

Best wishes,

John.
