What astounds me is the evidence against Suarez was so flimsy as to seriously question Evra's agenda. As i've said earlier it spanks to me of a short arsed little cretin who was woefully outplayed on the day resorting to the race card to get back at Suarez.. I certainly haven't heard Utd players rushing to back him up either. Maybe they all think he's a horrible little sh*t stirrer aswell. ;)

Morning carmine.

When you say flimsy evidence, is this comment based on rumours you have heard about what the evidence entails, or is this based on you being privy to the hearing?

Has the hearing been made public? Has the evidence that they based their decision on been made public? My understanding is that the answer to these two questions is "no". In which case, none of us are in any position to judge the judgement.

As far as Man United players (and fans) staying reasonably silent on this is concerned, i think they (and us) have simply been doing what Liverpool players and fans (and Kenny for that matter), should have been doing. When you don't know all the facts, as we don't, to put support behind one man, for no other reason than he plays for your team, is the sort of blind loyalty that i have never gone along with. Give me the facts first. Then i might think about taking a stance, staunchly defending someone, or perhaps even vilifying a player.

I suggest to you, that your stance, your vilification, began even before the dam_n thing happened. And that's fine, you hate Evra, you think he's a little shit and all that.. yeah i get that... fine, but don't pretend that your opinion is based on carefully considered examination of all the facts involved... cos it ain't, it's 50% based on pre-established personal feelings, and 50% based on rumours about the case. Not exactly a rock solid platform for a well-reasoned argument.

and top of the morning to you rix

You are ofcourse welcome to air your opinions as is anyone else and i have to say i normally agree withy you. Howeverm in this farce you are way off the mark and i'm pretty sure you'll find your opinion a very isolated one.

Have Liverpool not already released a statement? Well I'm sure they know what was said and what is in the findings better than we do. This one will run and run in my view all the way to a courtroom if the FA don't back down.

If they can't prove beyond reasonable doubt that he's racially abused Evra...which it seems to me they can't...then this will cost them more than just pride.

I have a feeling that Suarez, in the eyes of the football public is going to come out of this one ok. I reckon most will think him very hard done by and been made to be a scapegoat.

this is it, i have sympathy with rix's view about waiting for the evidence, such as it is, from the full FA report, but that LFC statement shouts a lot to me. it feels like an absolute stitch-up based on hearsay and bad translation / interpretation of something which has been said.

i'd love to hear how three old blazered fuddy-duddies at the FA got their heads around the fact that saurez is mixed-race himself and has a black grandfather. fuc_king morons.

not so sure about that but we'll see. they've yet to whack him with a 5 or 6 game ban for giving the fulham fans the finger too.

How can my opinion be isolated carmine, when i don't have one? - at least not with regards where guilt lies.

Said from the beginning of this that i was reserving judgement, reserving taking sides, until i knew all the facts involved. I still don't. If someone can enlighten me as to exactly what was said in the hearing, exactly what evidence was submitted, i'll be happy to form an opinion. And then you can tell me whether it is isolated or not.

If my professional body accused me of racism based on the say so of one person I'd have them in court as soon as possible. Sadly they are not so politically motivated, generally thick or stupidly wealthy as the FA.

there's obviously a lot more to come out in terms of what's been reported and reviewed by the panel, but for liverpool to react as angrily as they have i think it must be a bit of a mess.

what happened to henry winter's thing about evra calling suarez a 'sudaca' and telling the ref that he was only booking him because he's black?

Like i said earlier i think all should wait until the facts from the investigation are made public. ;)

You cannot ignore the fact that eight games and $40.000 is quite a ban if they have little evidence, the FA know the rules and also know that he maybe will appeal,i think Liverpool's statement yet again is hurting Suarez rather than protecting him,Liverpool bad! B)

The fact is he admitted to calling him a "Negrito" in the game and lets be honest in a Liverpool United match.....It wasn't a term he should use end of story,he is being racist to Evra,i cannot believe Stevie blaming everyone but Suarez?? and like you say he still has another charge to answer.

All Ferguson's fault........get real.

Personally I dont blame Man U or Evra for this mess. I think the whole issue has been handled incredibly badly by the FA. Saying that Suarez is not a racist and then effectively branding him one with an 8 month ban is pretty pathetic. When a sports governing body takes up a political agenda and a moral agenda, they are way out of their league and it will inevitably be at the expense of the sport it is supposed to be governing.

The very concept of football setting moral parameters is an oxymoron.

Now that they have started this shit storm just watch them crawl back to their usual stance - it was the 'referees' decision and the 'referee's' decision is final.

8 month ban???

Liverpool are at fault also basically because he is the star player and losing him means the season is over, they have handled the situation badly.

Posted

I am still pissed off at the FA about this. Just how difficult is it to get this right?

We all know that the FA has an agenda. (If you play FIFA 12 you will notice that the signs on the hoardings constantly change. Well not constantly because 80% of the time they say 'EA Sports' but they also come up with 'say no to racism' and 'kick racism out of football'. Certainly sounds better than 'kick xenophobia out of football' 'no discrimination against monopeds' or 'say no to fat fuc_kers' (or is that 'yes')).

Anyway, what the FA is trying to say is that Suarez is guilty of abusing Evra by 'calling' him black, rather than he is a racist which would imply 'intent' and that he abused Evra 'because' he was black. In fact Evra quite plainly states that he doesnt think Suarez is a racist. And the FA quite clearly state they dont think Suarez is a racist. That is because he hasnt be charged with being a racist but with 1) abusive language 2) including reference to his skin color.

But the shit storm is that having said he is not racist, the FA has awarded a penalty as though he were. Just how difficult is it to reconcile this massive dilemma that the FA is under? It is bloody easy. All you have to do is give a punishment with an element of it suspended with clear reference that it is due to a lack of intent. If Suarez had a 3 match ban and an additional 3 match suspended for 2 years, of course people would be whinging but that would be the end of it. You would think 3 vaguely sentient people could come up with an acceptable compromise with 6 days of deliberation. Morons.

Posted

Anyway just in case anyone got confused about whether he is a racist after they have said he is not, the Mirror clears the matter up.

And I remember when football used to be a contact sport as well.

What does FA stand for?

Watching the Wigan match, Suarez getting booed every time he touches the ball.

Wigan supporters are thick as pigs**t.

So Liverpool fans turned up this season.

But anyway its good to see scousers and southerners who follow them are showing Liverpudlians to be the victim status breed theyre known as.

If a fan had admitted to calling a player a Negro theyd have been banned for life and may have ended up in jail, if Joey Barton had done it all on here would be calling for him to be banned from making a living life.

Scousers being the scrounging Labour voting socialists they are, are responsible for this twisted society where a bit of name calling cant be sorted out between 2 men but needs to end up in court, you reap what you sow.

Besides there isnt much difference between coming 5th or 6th.

You havent the clout of a big team such as Chelsea, Man U or Man City!

You were doing well until the last sentence. They are a horrible little West London Second Division outfit.

Loved Dalglish's withering responses to the BBC interviewer when asked questions about Suarez's ban

Link please.

I saw it on television this morning. It was classic stuff. Total and utter contempt.

Wigan should also have to play a few games behind closed doors, as its very clear that they cannot control their supporters who are basically rabid dogs.

Of course the standard Liverpool FC method of dealing with bad publicity has kicked in:

1) Deny it happened

2) Blame the other party

3) When found out blame some "misunderstanding"

4) If all else fails just say everyone else does it

5) If anything goes to court make sure the hearing is held on Merseyside

6) Never accept that Liverpool FC is in the wrong

7) Always demand action against someone else to deflect the blame.

8) If in doubt just mention Bob Paisley or Bill Shankly (the latter one of the biggest charlatans in football not that you'd know it from their air-brushed history) and watch the BBC go all dewy-eyed.

We've had most of these already in connection with this business. I fully expect to see an article somewhere that contains the line "it is inconcievable that the club of Bob Paisley would act in such a manner....." any time now.

That maybe the case, but you wouldnt call a lottery winner poor because you dont like the way they got their wealth.

Crazy all these racist abuse cases, surely an insult should be classed as an insult and one race of the species shouldnt be more protected then the other.

He'll get another few games suspension for sticking his fingers up at that pointless club that is Fulham(has there ever been a more pointless club?), im dying to hear what the cultural difference is with this gesture.

Edit - Alan Hansen was apologising today for referring to black people as coloured, i didnt realise this was another word that is offensive enough to get a man the sack from his £40k per hour job!

Craven Cottage is a great venue to go for a game. Friendly atmosphere, nice location, good pubs to go to before the game and hassle free taking young kids. If Fulham are pointless i'm presuming that makes half the teams in the league pointless.

Who do you support anyway?

Yes...the mackems scored 15 points in the 2005/06 season!
