Quality Control On 2013 Hondas Or Zoomer X Compoents Only ?

Have any of you who have owned a Honda scooter older than 2012 noticed the QC is going down on components ?

Case in point is my 2012/13 Zoomer vs my 2011 Scoopy.

The wing mirrors on the Zoomer have a ripple distortion through both of them which is distracting as it looks more like a Hall of Mirrors effect when you are trying to get a handle on the songtow tearing up behind you.

The indicator switch on my Scoopy works faultlessly and on the Zoomer 1 in 5 or 1 in 10 it bounces off the side and the indicator does not switch off as the "window of button pushing success" seems much narrower than the Scoopy inidicator switch.

Took it to local Honda repair and had to fight tooth-and-nail with staff and Bangkok to get the full indicator/light/horn mount replaced as the replacement switch they put in was same-same. I told them I'd be on to them with a lawyer if I crash as a direct result of their faulty component.

Watched the guy put the indicator lights button on and off relentlessly and he had the glitch happen when he did it about 4 times while I stood next to him (he had to push it again to switch off after failed attempts)......he then turns round and says NO PROBLEM !

I asked them to give me the Scoopy housing/indicator handlebar instead of a Zoomer X one as I tried to explain it is looking like a botched batch or they are all just like that.No joy. It just really gets my back up with the lack of after service across the board in Thailand. Even the big companies just don't have customer retention mentality.

I know an indicator staying on a little longer is not such a problem but it is the distraction from the road and as any scooter rider knows, it only takes 2 seconds of downtime from road focus for some crazy event to cause a crash here with all the p*** poor driving that goes on.

Maybe you got a lemon, you know it unfortunately happens sometimes, I have owned several bikes in the past, Kawasaki in BBK was my biggest headache with service but they got it done right if you stayed and watched them - that was on a Versys 650. Now I have a Honda CBR500r, just had service done here at Pattaya Big Wing, flawless service, very polite, free bottled water. Really I almost fainted, felt like I was almost back in the USA. These guys actually walked me through everything explaining it in English and made sure before I left the shop that everything, even the clutch adjustment was to my satisfaction.

Hope it works out for you or maybe take it to the Honda shop next to Honda Big Wing if your in Pattaya. Friend of mine has a Zoomer, I actually like it, strange looking bike, runs good, no issues with his at all. He bought it last year new...

Just a few problems on it and great otherwise, it is just this blatant pass-the-buck mentality here and the mechanic outright lying after the new switch glitched out same as last one.

I'm in C.M. and incidently I saw a crazy modded zoomer at a local specialist place.....here it is ...a little slugger punching above its lightweight belt ! Not sure it is road legal though now with the NOX mod or whatever it is above the rear wheel...

Looks cool, not sure what that NOX Mod is, maybe bling maybe something else. There is pretty much no such thing as road legal, if it walk, crawls, puffs smoke, makes noise, dead or alive its good to go :) LOL

For the amount they cost, if you are really irked by the Zoomer X switch then by all means buy your own Scoppy switch and replace the one you have. This presupposes that the Scoopy has the same wiring configuration and the same plug which you will find out when you buy it!

Have you tried a squirt of WD 40 into the switch?

I find for the most part service to be OK. The people who seem not to be satisfied seem to be the ones worried about it, so may be tense when dealing with service staff from the start?
