krisb
Something from your home country would be nice. I only got something for my mil and fil, that's enough.
Popular Post Naam
when i met my potential in-laws for the first time they invited me for tea and later for dinner but they did not charge me, neither for the food nor for the drinks. after a 3rd degree interrogation with tricky indepth questions such as "who are you, what are you, why are you and what exactly is the reason why you insist to marry our daughter?" my then designated fiancée got (reluctantly) permission to marry me. but they didn't give me any presents. that is... indirectly i benefitted because they insisted that i check out of my hotel and stay in their home. they also did not charge me for accomodation provided. did i miss something? should i have asked for presents?
rgs2001uk
On the g/f advice, nothing, the family invited me for a meal and paid for it.
USNret
Johnny Walker for dad, Fossil watch for the younger sis, I forgot what I got for mom. I think Lancome something. Nothing was required; it was just a nice gesture. They loved the gifts. After some whiskey & karaoke, no more questions about my intentions with their daughter (we've been married now for 5 years.) transam
On the g/f advice, nothing, the family invited me for a meal and paid for it. That is the norm in LOS, if a Thai asks you out, they pay, if you ask out, you pay. If this is not the case with any of you there could be the farang ATM thing involved. IsaanUSA
I never met my inlaw(s)... You can't beat that...! Are you joking that your wife's parents are no longer living? Or that they do not care enough about their daughter to attend her wedding? Either way, sounds sad.
jaideecm
For the first meeting just take a nice fruit basket and find out what imported whiskey or scotch the father likes and buy a bottle for him. This is Thai custom.
