We are setting up a web site for a new company

We will use a contact form to establish e-mail contact

to avoid those nasty little spiders that collect addresses for Spam lists

Are Skype addresses also vulnerable, or can be safely publish those?

Any thoughts welcome

Yes. Look at the link structure. Easy to recognise, easily parsed.

But for either, my opinion is who cares.

Email harvesting for your domain is easy enough, just by bruting the user names and waiting for delivered OK messages...so I wouldn't worry too much about wasting time on the issue.

Yes indeed.

From M86 Security Labs:

With over 520 million users, Skype is the most popular VoIP (Voice over IP) application available today. It provides a great service, allowing families, friends and colleagues to connect to one another through voice and video chat across the globe. However, being so popular doesnt come without a price. The price that is paid is in the form of Skype SPIM (Instant Message Spam). These messages are pushed out to a large percentage of Skype users on a regular basis. The SPIM messages can range from the common pharmaceutical product spam, to fake OEM software, investment scams, replica bags and watches, and adult dating site spam.

A few months ago, there was a bug that allowed accounts to be hijacked through a simple password reset.

Been using Skype for many years, published address on my web site and never had any spam sent to me.

Yeah, some people have an email account for years and don't receive any SPAM. That doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. I think my blocked list on Skype is larger than my blocked list with GMail!

Thanks

In the business world here Skype does seem to have taken over from e-mail

with the ability to Chat, then convert to conversation when the need arises.

Especially where quick deals need to be made.

The desktop sharing facility is really great too!!
