I've googled a little but could only come up with some very old threads and old information.

Can anyone recommend a clinic? It can be anywhere on the island?

I understand I can go to the hospitals, but was hoping for a smaller place with a more personalised service. I do not need a doctor or nurse to interpret the results for me.

I would like a place that could also test a urine sample as well.

The tests are not work related or needed for a visa or anything official. It's for my own information about by health.

I would like all the usual tests like glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides but have no problem getting tested for HIV and other STD's at the same time.

The cost is not really an issue, but I don't want to get ripped off. The most important thing is the test results as reliable and not just guess work to turn over a quick farang baht.

Any current information or recommendations would be appreciated.

Any clinic on the island will most likely offer a blood testing service. They draw the blood, and take it to a testing facility, then give you the results the next day. Quite honestly the least expensive place to get blood and urine tests will be the Phuket international (at least that is my experience).

I agree. They have their lab onsite, they can email you the results, usually same day or you can wait a few hours for them. But if you don't have an account already with them, I think they charge an administrative fee to set up a new account.

There is a test lab heading north on Chao Fa West Rd near the Wat Chalong. It is on the leaf side of the road next to the dog hosiptal. The cost depends of the number of tests you need. I did a colestoral and blood sugar test for less than 1000 THB. Go in the morning and get the results in the afternoon.

Phuket international currently have a special promotion on their physical checkup packages - takes a few hours, but many many options to choose from & great friendly staff with easy and plentyful parking

Thanks for the replies.

I thought I would stay away from a hospital because of ques and a higher turn around time for results, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I like the idea of having an account there, so I can make it a regular 6 or 12 month check. Do you need your passport or credit card number to open an account? I's rather pay cash than with a card.

There aren't that many places around that have full blown testing facilities, typically these are found in the larger hospitals. What usually happens is lots of places advertise the ability to do these tests, take the blood samples and send them off to the hospitals for testing. Probably best to just go straight to the hospital in the first place.

I've used the Phuket International many times over the years for blood tests. Just turn up, ground floor reception, tell then what you want, you will be taken into the lab area within 5 or 10 minutes. Give blood, get results in one hour. Don't forget to fast for 12 hours before giving blood, only drink water.

I got all my results & finished a load of tests in under 2 hrs - I advise getting there around 8 am, you will be the first and be in & out in no time. JUst take your passport & happy days

It looks like I'll go to Phuket International Hospital. I'll go early morning so my sleeping will be my fasting. I'll give blood, go for breakfast and kill some time and then go back for the results.

Thanks to those who have replied.

If you take their all inclusive packages you will get a snackcoupon, so once you have finished your test have a snack & coffee and the resultas are ready :) good luck

There is a lab in Phuket Town that charges me about half what my blood work costs at Phuket International. They have a long list of tests you can have done. They are on the road to Saphan Hin, left side, just before you get to the red light intersection where if you go left you go to Robinsons. Results in about an hour, depending on the tests you have done. Very professional.

I thought that lab had already closed after the hospital opposite was closed.

Edit - just made a Google walk down the road and it seems to be still there - Phuket Lab Centre. I have used this place in the past, good service.

A Google walk today does not mean that the place is still there today. Google maps are usually dated.

Hi

I have went to a small place at Chao fa east for six months and make a test every week.

Its a small o friendly place. They have a white sign with red letters outside on the street

telling urine and blood tests. I am very satisfied with their work. They do all kind of tests.

Coming from Chalong, about 300 m before tanon kwang traffic light, on the left side.

Opens 07:30.

Last year decided to have a bio marker blood test (cancer), previously done at Bangkok hospital 6 years ago for about 16,000thb. They quoted me 36,000thb last year results back in about 10 days, so I googled clinics and found Naborn lab in Chalong, near Naborn school. Husband and wife who used to be lab technicians at Bangkok hospital. Very efficeient and cheap. They explained that my blood would go to the same laboratory in Bangkok that Bangkok hospital uses. I had a full bio marker test, cholestorol and STD for....3,700thb. Results scanned and emailed to me 3 days later. You can have a cholestorol test done for only 100thb.

In addittion, because of my results i needed a colonoscopy. Bangkok hospital quoted me 60-80,000thb. I went to Mission hospital....very efficent, they arranged for me to go to Vachira hospital for my colonoscopy...cost? 9,800thb.

I now have regular CEA level testing done at Mission for 200thb. Good hospital.
