Hi, can anybody advise on hotels in Singapore close to Orchard rd. Not been before so also need to find Visa Agent. Many thanks......

I am just beginning my research into this in case my next posting comes off and is Singapore.

My Employment Pass will be sorted out by the company so I have not looked into Visa Agents etc

As for Accom I have been looking at Serviced Apartments for the first month till i get a condo or HDB apartment - prices for this month have been quoted at 4-6K Sing Dollars but I am continung to look

I know its not good form here to mention other Thai sites but I do not know about others (Mods please remove link if against board rules)

This site has some good info

http://www.singaporeexpats.com/

They have a forum too but it not a patch on this site

If you are looking for a hotel near the Thai Embassy on Orchard Road and money is no objetc, the Hilton is located right opposite the Embassy on Orchard Road.

Another cheaper option would be the Crown hotel also on orchard road 5 minutes walk to the embassy

I do not know of any visa agents in Singapore and don't think there is any need for them as it is very straightforward to apply yourslef. I do not think the embassy would acept a visa application without you being present

If money is no object stay you can't go far wrong at the Marriott on Orchard road.........7000 baht/night.

For a half decent budget hotel try the Allson in Victoria street its only 2 stops on the MRT from the Marriott and at 3000 baht/night inc breakfast excellent value........was there 3 weeks ago..........breakfast is very good......sausage bacon the works!

I don't know of any agents in Singapore.

Have a wee look at

www.visitsingapore.com

Not a bad site. It lists hotels in price range (from budget to 5 star). Hotel Bencoolen, 41 Bencoolen St, is a 5 min walk from Dhoby Ghaut station, which in turn, is 1 or 2 stops from Orchard Rd station.
