Where To Buy A Good Meat Grinder?

Featured Replies

Doesn't need to be a big one - just grinding small amounts of meat on occasion.

Doesn't need to be an electric one either. Manual is fine.

Nakorn Kilo - south east corner of Airport intersection.

Funnily enough, I was walking down Sridorn Chai today to go to Butter is Better (the main road from the South Eastern corner of the old town) and down there not far on the right hand side is a shop that seems to sell mostly different kinds of meat grinders! And also stove top devices. They look to be a catering specialist shop but some of the mincers/grinders looked normal domestic size. I'd be interested to know if this helps - good luck!

There are some shops on the moat that sell a lot of scales and juicers....nice sturdy manual ones. Might be worth a look for meat grinders. Near the North East Corner.

The shop I saw on Sridornchai is called HOMiKiTCH (written like that) - it's featured on Nancy Chandler's map of Chiang Mai.

I asked th lady in there on my way home from breakfast this morning - a good medium sized manual grinder she said is 2500 Baht. Seems a bit steep, 1000 seems more than enough to me. She also had much smaller ones made in China but she didn't give a price for those. Bartering is definitely advsied!

Champ/Makro.

Got one years ago, about 800THB, still works well.

If anyone can recommend a brand that works well please let me know.

I bought an "ALWAYS 8" for 400 B, worthless piece of shit.

Have heard that that model does the trick, but being made out of cast iron, it has to be cleaned and oiled to prevent rust. Also they have sausage funnels that you can attach.

Yes indeed, when I've finished using it, it is taken apart, cleaned thoroughly, put in a pan of boiling water for a few minutes and then dried and wiped down will an oil soaked tissue/
