Hi,

Am i correct when thinking that no funds needs to be shown when applying for above visa in Vientiane? Also, is it possible to have an agent apply or do i need to do it in person?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Believe you only require the normal show of marriage certificate/copy and copy of home register and wife ID card. I would do myself rather than risk giving original marriage certificate to anyone and not sure they can obtain non immigrant visas or not. You are aware multi entry is available in Savannakhet if you have need for longer visa?

Thanks Lop, might be wiser to do in person just dont like the idea of waiting in the sun that long. Will get extension of stay later on in bkk once i have the money required in the bank, not sure when that is though :S

Btw should i ask the missus to write a letter in thai aswell asking them to issue a visa for me?

Just done mine and a letter is a must, also it is a good idea to have your wife there with you in case of a problem, all was fine with mine until they did a second check in the main building and came back and said i had not been married long enough, they did not know i had my wife with me at first and i think if i was on my own they would have knocked me back, so i said to the lady speak with my wife then, so she asked my wife a few questions and made her write a few more things on the letter, only then it was approved.

I would advise anyone if they think they will have a problem to go Savannakhet as they are more relaxed, Vientiane seem to try and look for mistakes to knock people back which while i was there a few did get knocked back.

Also Vientiane is getting very expensive i spend more there in a day than i would ever in Thailand for the same standard hotel and food.

Thanks alot for this Nev, im leaving for Vientiane tomorrow and bringing the wifey aswell for a mini holiday so will beg her to leave the cool air con in the hotel for a few hours to help applying for the visa :)...will apply for a single entry as no need for multiple.

Could nev or anyone that just applied for this kind of visa recently provide a list of documents needed? Getting worried here now, thought Vientiane would be very relaxed.
