Travel Insurance - Tgf Visiting The Uk - Recommendations?

Featured Replies

Hi

TGF is coming to the UK for 3 months. She's never had travel insurance and thank god, she has never needed it but this time we'd both feel better if she took some out just in case.

Having never purchased it before, I was hoping for some recommendations. Is it better tot ake out in the UK with a UK company or in Thailand? How much should one expect to pay (ball park) and what kind of cover would that get you?

Many thanks

Taz

Agree might get a better response in Travel, the the OP might also like to look in the insurance section.

when my wife came to the UK on a visit visa, I took out insurance. I bought this in a local travel agents in her home town

my wife uses AXA in Thailand. Allianz is another one, use well known ones only that have offices in the UK as well, makes it easier in case of a claim.

I have used this lot and from previous threads so have loads of others.

We have used LMG Pacific Healthcare arranged through AA Insurance Brokers (who used to be sponsors on ThaiVisa) for my wife for visits to the UK. They charged about 6,500 Baht for a 5 months visit.

All much for much in my experience but for peace of mind I'd prefer to go with a name I know

Only my opinion though.

You don't have the choices you think you might have. You can't take it out in the UK (even online) for a non UK resident to cover you in the UK. The World nomads link posted by Rab C above is good however.
