Probably not - but you will run a slight risk of arrest and jail pending trial if found prior to reaching exit point.

Same thing happened to me earlier this year, actually was 3 days I think. Was flying out via BKK ... paid the fee at the airport ... return a month later on my regular rotation. I was nervous as hell, but all went smoothly and the Immigration guys at the airport were friendly and professional.

At the Immigration, usually a "minor offense." Beforehand, problems can evolve !

That would be a 1 day overstay, which at airports is waived.

If one day of overstay when leaving via an airport it is not charged - this has been the policy for ages. Only if more than one day will you have to pay all.

There must be a lot of overstays in Thailand. At immigration in Aranyaphrahet they have three kinds of counters: "Thai", "Foreigner", and "Overstay/Group Tour".

Just a fresh data point - August 1, 2013

Charged 500 Baht for one day overstay (~6 hours, actually) and stamped/noted in passport; tourist visa, US passport, at DMK.
