We are moving to Rayong city in July.

Is there much there by way of expat bars and restaurants?

There is a Expat bar near the star market called the Wizard Bar pool table dart board 4 or 5 TVs Etc

Many expats there, or are they all in Ban Chang? Been there (wife has relatives there) quite a few times, but haven't seen much, if anything, by way of a foreign prescence.

Very few western expats around Rayong city, but as you have said most expats in the area are in the Ban Chang area

Also not sure what you mean by western restaurants...if you mean KFC/McDonalds/Pizza's etc...yes

No, not fast food, I meant somewhere you can get a decent sandwich, roast dinner, similar. I live on Thai food most of the time, but enjoy the occasional Brit/Italian, etc.

If it means a trip into Ban Chang, no problem. Just trying to gauge what's available locally there.

Your best bet then is Ban Chang for variety, but something a bit closer to your end is restaurant called New Germany, which is on Sukhumvit about 12km outside of Ban Chang, near the PTT Gas separation plant, its an ok place

What happened to 'Old Germany' ? has it been re-named ?

The Old Germany is still there. We drove past it last week. I went in there around 94-5 and it was good. Thanks for the reminder!

What happened to 'Old Germany' ? has it been re-named ?
