Afghanistan: Attack On Red Cross Offices In Nangarhar Kill At Least 8

<p>KABUL, AFGHANISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- A suicide attack on Wednesday targeted Red Cross offices in Afghanistan, killing at least eight people, local authorities said.

</p>

<p>The suicide bombers laucnched the attack at around 6 p.m. local time against the Red Cross guest house located on Arzaq Street in the city of Jalalabad, the provincial capital of Nangarhar.

</p>

<p>One of the suicide attackers detonated his explosives at the entrance of the International Committee of the Red Crescnt (ICRC), and another group entered and opened fire.

</p>

<p>The clash lasted two hours, and according to the provincial police spokesman, Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal, who spoke with Pajhwok Afghan News, an ICRC senior official was among the eight people killed.

</p>

<p>Few details have been available, but Nangarhar police chief, General Mohammad Sharif, said security forces eventually shot and killed six attackers, ending the gun battle. Dozens of staff members, including six foreigners, were at offices during the attack.
