Shipping To Canada

Featured Replies

Hi. I did do a search on this site, but there isn't much info.

I am thinking of sending 2-3 meters of stuff back to Canada.

Can someone suggest a shipping company

And does anybody have experience specifically with getting stuff into Canada? Any problems? Any huge brokerage fees?

Thanks, Mark

I can recommend http://www.abs-relocations.com/en/ We used them 2 times, first form Denmark to Udon in Thailand and then from Udon to Bangkok. They offer good service and the price is OK.

Take a ride down to Ban Tawai, many, many shipping agents there.

Apart from the shipping costs. Once the goods arrive in Canada you will be charged duty. Plus you will have to pay the 5% GST. Also the sales tax of the province you are shipping to.

How is duty assesed on such personal effects, having no actual value.

I would contact John at Chiang Mai Removals--they do packing and shipping and they guy is knowledgeable and efficient.

If you are sending used personal goods there should be no duty or taxes. The shipping agent will tell you of all the excess charges there are not included in the freight and packing charges.

The Op did not state that they were personal effects.

Thanks for all this folks. Yes, they are personal effects - used fitness equipment, books, some kitchen stuff, etc etc

One of my concerns is that after getting it to Canada, it could still cost another $1000 just to get it to my home...

^ Hmm...Possibly donate your used kit to the needy in Thailand and purchase anew in Canada. Could prove to be cost effective.
