To be totally honest, we are all the more tolerant of your pomposity that your wit is sometimes lost on us. biggrin.png

555. I mentioned pompous coz when I read back through it, I sometimes hear the same as you.

I knew getting started [with posts on a forum] was a bad idea!

Thanks for the heads-up!

555. Never ceases to amaze me just how 'vocal' some people are, yet do

no homework in order to be understood. Reading it [very] laterally, perhaps I get it (though would perhaps prefer not to), but who could be sure!"£$%^&*???

Not intended to sound pompous.

To all you non-native English speakers out there please don't take

offence to that. My 2nd/3rd/etc language skills are sketchy, at best, so I would not

criticize others for being better linguists than I. Moreover, some people love/need

to be heard...problem is, they need to be understood if people are to listen.

That sort of money would buy you another Shopping Trolly ,not someones leaves off you know F/A about. Bit more and you can get a basic Mitsu.coffee1.gif

!"£$%^&*???
I see you're getting to know our Ace?

Or not, so that makes you just as puzzled as the rest of us are most times, reading his posts laugh.png ....

555

giggle.gif Ace can't even use that excuse ............................................................

then again he is Aussie so I guess that does disqualify him as a native English speaker

I'm not a native EN speaker (maybe that's why I understand it?), allow me to translate:

For the money you're selling your car for, one could buy a brand new lower-B segment car, rather than a used one that you'll never really understand the history of. Add a little bit more to the budget and you could buy yourself a basic Mistubishi Mirage.

Hey, IMHO, I'm disappointed...

Quote: "...perhaps I get it (though would perhaps prefer not to),...". What happened?

RE: "history". I'm an honest bloke (largely why staying here does my head in; bloody hard work being angelic, in these here parts) and always put my cards on the table; am pretty sure many can interpret that from my posts. Full log of receipts for all/any work/purchases are going with car, as also mentioned in ads.

*Not sure of category classifications for car sizes [here], the M2 is a small/city car, but there are many smaller ones out there.

Oh, and at a squeeze, a mirage might fit in the M2's boot, though perhaps the rear seats need to be laid flat first. LOL

Rubbish, not a "B seg", and a Mirage is " A seg". So you are saying a new B seg is cheaper than a Mirage.

Here in Thailand, A segment is still reserved for super micros like the Daihatsu Mira, Toyota IQ, Fiat 500's, Smarts etc.

Eco cars are considered lower-B, and Vios, City, Fiesta, Spark, Mazda2 etc are upper-B.

My Wife has Her Own Classification. A 2 Litre Fiesta is a Mini Car, same as the Swift, but more Ugly. A Focus is the same as an Almera but the Ford has a funny looking bottom. Or Sons Trailblazer is a Tractor. He must be Mad, could have had a nice car for that money. Why do Mini Coopers cost so much, they look all Squidgy and Old.. Why has that got BMW on the back it looks like a Pajero to me........ Yes Dear, your So Right, up goes the Music Volume.w00t.gif

Comparing a Mitsubishi Mirage to a Mazda 2 is really an injustice. Not only is the Mirage the blandest Japanese small car of the last 10 years it's not endowed with a good quality interior. I doubt the performance is anything to write home about with a 1.2L 3 cylinder engine fitted. The air-con probably uses half the power of one cylinder, plus the other accessories so in effect you have 2 cylinders and 800cc for propulsion! Less than 1cc for each kilogram.

What a donkey!

In 5MT form, the Mirage and 2 are about the same - a different driver would see one or the other win. In 4AT vs CVT form, the Mazda2 manages about half a second faster on the 0-100 sprint, but the Mirage is actually about half a second faster than the Mazda2 when accelerating from 80-120 km/hr.

As for interior, my knuckles, nails and knees didn't detect any high quality materials on either ;)

For spelling creature correctly (and a few other complicated words), I'll give you a little credit. The rest of your daubing though...!"£$%^&*???

I was tempted not to address this, coz I'm sure you are just having fun (assuming I'm not giving you too much credit for that?): "...log of receipts..." refers to anything spent. i.e. services, accessories, etc. There’s not been a need for any unscheduled visits to the dealer/mechanic, other than to get a freshen-up/check before/after a long journey.

Hey folks, as he says: "buy new". Then after the worst/biggest [age] depreciation in the car's life of 3rys, you can do it all again. Strangely, in the UK the majority of people look for a little gem-in-the-rough (to avoid taking the hit/loss). One where the biggest hit/loss is already over, and the vehicle has evidently been well treated/looked after...and that's in a country where seeing a mechanic costs more per hour (+VAT+parts), than getting a full [half-day] service (including parts) at a branded/main dealer here. Yep, you've gotta be mad to look at anything other than brand new !"£$%^&*?

FYI: yesterday saw another [scheduled] service. All the usual suspects + new oil & fuel filters (manufacturers recommendation at 40k, though currently only at 34k), all for less than 5,000THB.

Good input, thanks

Just seeing your refreshed ad, I had one thought... As you messed with the electric system ("Rear [LED] fog-lights (wired as additional break-lights)"), the warranty on the electric system is also voided.

Another advice: show some pics of the interior. I tend to suspect people when they do not show how the inside of the car looks. thumbsup.gif

Hiya,

That's a good point to address. Before having it done, I checked with dealer and they said it won't. Further, shortly after installation, took it in for scheduled service and asked them again. They said it was peripheral and had no effect on warranty.

RE: interior pics. There is one on the TV ad, just posts are limited to 6 pics (t'was my thinking to show every conceivable angle of the exterior, to highlight it's condition/appearance). Other sites have up to 12 pics, including many interior shots. The problem with keep tweaking TV ads is that they are quarantined for quite a while, thus invisible.

Valid points, sir, thanks for both.

Just viewed ad, but I too couldn't access all the pics.

Can anyone instruct me how to add a picture to this topic? Not a link, just the image itself.

Thanks

IDL you've left out the year of registration of the vehicle, when looking at car ads to me that says the owner is asking too much (and knows it)wink.png .

I guarantee you that more photos and more marketing spin isn't going to generate one scrap of additional interest - you're not selling the unknown here, you're selling a used car to a very limited vertical of potential buyers.

In fact going over the top can only actually achieve one thing: scaring off legitimate interest... IMHO, car ads should be nothing but the facts, a few photos and contact details. You want the phone to ring / email to ding so you can do the selling.

Oops, un-intentional. 2010, BTW.

Uploading an ad on TV can be quite a frustrating experience.

There is a character limit (no problem with that), but in reality it will only accept around 200 less characters than the field states (I truly believe the more detail the better, when advertising some of this value). Therefore one spends ages tweaking, snipping, cutting little bits at a time, just to get it posted. My mistake, will fix that now (as mentioned, that will also take the ad away for a while so admin can approve its content).

*I'll never buy a brand new car here again; this age/price-range is rife with difficulties, when selling. LOL

Though that sounds perfectly sensible to me, if Kartman hadn't made that remark about the car's age, I may never have noticed.

Each to their own I guess, the point to starting this was to get genuine feedback from people who browse the motoring section. I do feel the post was worth it as I have a clearer indication of the mindset of would-be buyers [here]. Not least due to your input.

Thanks,

Just read your updated ad, allow me to have a go at a rewrite:

2010 Mazda2 [Groove|Spirit|Maxx] 1.5L Automatic Hatchback for sale in Bangkok.

One (farang) owner, only 34,000KM travelled, full service history. Full option with steering wheel audio controls and body kit. Registration and 1st class insurance to May 2014. 430,000 Baht, offers considered.

Call [insert name] on [phone number] for further details or to arrange an inspection.

No tire kickers or men of their word, please.

You could probably omit the last sentence though tongue.png

That's all you need to establish with potential buyers it's the model they've been looking for. You're not going to convince someone looking for a Camry that they should also consider this car, and the rest of the fluff added make you sound like a used car salesman - and if they wanted that, they'd just go see one ;)

IMHO makes a good point.

What model is it as there was a fair bit of difference between the bottom

of the range Groove to the Maxx?

There's a 120K price difference between the 4AT Groove and the 4AT Maxx models, and still 50K difference between the Spirit and the Maxx.. Of course the additional gadgets between grades aren't great value for money (they never are), but the base model certainly does feel a bit light on features compared to the top...
