Philippines: At Least 3 Killed, 4 Injured In The Metro Manila Area

MANILA, PHILIPPINES (BNO NEWS) -- At least three people were killed after an explosion inside a residential unit in the Metro Manila area of the Philippines, authorities said Friday.

The explosion took place at around 8 p.m. local time on Friday night at the Two Serendra building, a residential condominium unit located at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, which is in the southeastern part of Metro Manila in the National Capital Region.

According to authorities, large pieces of concrete from the building's upper floor were blown off by the blast and slammed into a Abenson delivery van and killed three people on board, Inquirer News reported. In addition, four others were also injured and were taken to the St. Lukes Medical Center.

The loud explosion caused panic among locals, including customers at the nearby Market!Market shopping center, as the blast shook the floors in nearby blocks.

Authorities cordoned off the area where the van was crushed. Investigations were launched, but the cause of the incident was not immediately known. However, some media outlets said a appliance malfunction could have been the cause.
