Buying House In Bangkok.

Featured Replies

I want to buy a house in Minburee, Bangkok. Is this area very prone to floods? Any suggestions?

Firstly, non-Thai citizens can not buy land, so you will need to arrange a lease for the land the house sits on. If you buy a condo, be sure the building has at least 51% Thai owners. As for floods, that depends just were you buy. The closer to canals, the more likely to flood, but flooding can occur about any place in Thailand. Parts of Minburi had some flooding in recent years. Once you have selected a candidate for purchase, check with others in the Muban as to flooding.

Thank you so much for the information. I understand from my friends that foreigner can buy condo in Thailand but can not sell. Is this true? Thank a lot.

Foreigners can buy and sell condos, but not land.

Foreigners can buy and sell condos, but not land.

foreigners cannot legally buy and sell land. but that does not change the fact that foreigners have been and are still buying and selling land.

Minburi/that part of Bangkok was flooded during the late 2011 flood...of course parts of north, east, and western (my area) Bangkok were also flooded. Only the folks in central Bangkok escaped any significant flooding during the late 2011 flood.

A foreigner can not own land...they can own the house that sets on the land but they can't own the land. Foreigners can buy/own and sell condo's...get yourself a condo on the second floor or above and you won't have to worry about your living space getting flooded...of course the first floor of the condo building might end up under 1 to 2 meters of water which is probably going to impact things for everyone in the condo building.
