Thinking of buying a Honda City or Civic.

Before i decide whether to buy new or look for a 2-3 year old model,

i wanted to ask any of you that have recently ordered a new Honda.

What kind of waiting times are expected after you make the order?

Have you been given the run around or have they delivered your car on time?

I don't wish to order a new car and have to wait months on end listening to their excuses

and eventually get fed up waiting and have to cancel, as this is what happened to a friend

a year or two ago.

Otherwise i'll just look for a late second hand model.

Thanks for your feedback.

I haven't ordered a honda recently, but for a 2-3 year old car its still better to buy new. Old jazzes still fetch over 400K.The prices for second-hand are ridiculous - coupled with lending money at a high interest rate, you could be paying more for it than a new one. Just buy new and have a low interest rate and peace-of-mind warranty for 3 years. It's worth waiting a few months for. Honda are quite good with delivering cars and not so likely to give you the run-around. It will depend on which model you want. Would have to contact a few dealers about delivery times.

If the delivery-time of a new is the main issue........shop around!!

There is always a dealer with the required model in stock.

I ordered a Civic last July and was given 3 months delivery time......after 2 weeks they offered me an alternative (more expensive) model instead......delivery time: Instantly.

The ordered vehicle showed up after 4 weeks!

My Honda City is over three years old now so I don't have recent experience, but I accepted a car in a different color to the one I ordered just because it was available sooner - I wasn't bothered.

I wouldn't recommend buying second-hand given what I've experienced with Honda servicing costs - I just don't think that the average Thai owner puts the money in, or they'll go to B-quik instead of the dealership. I think this is important.

Be careful which used Civic you get. At the end of last year a friend and I went car shopping and checked out the Civic. A major disappointment when compared to the competition. It was panned by the automotive press for cheap interior, brakes and ride. It was the 2012 model and Honda realized the problems and quickly came out with a new model.
