Norwegian getting visa in Thailand

What is the procedure to get a tourist visa? I heard will be given 30 days when reach Thailand and if apply for tourist visa will be given another 60days. So is it total 90 days? And tourist visa is given only upon provided your flight details to prove you confirm staying in Thailand over 30 days. Is it correct? Someone,pls advise. Thanks

You cannot get a tourist visa in Thailand. You have to get it from a Thai embassy or consulate.

You will only get a 30 day visa exempt entry that can only be extended for 7 days.

If you do not have a ticket out of the country within 30 days of arrival you may not be able to board your flight because that is one of the requirements for a visa exempt entry.

You can get a tourist visa at the embassy in Oslo that would give you a 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days at immigration. Info here: http://www.thaiembassy.no/wordpress/consular-services/visa-information-application/

You make application at a Thai Consulate and pay the fee for tourist visa. When you arrive you put that number on your arrival card and most people get a 60 day stay which can be extended another 30 days with TM.7 application to Immigration office and payment of 1,900 baht fee.

Thanks for the reply. My friend is coming in Thailand tomorrow. I think he did not apply for the visa in her country. Can she get any extension during her stay in Thailand?

if she comes in to Thailand with a 30 Days Visa on Arrival (VOA), this VOA can be extended 1 time only for 7 Days at a Local Immigration Office for a Fee of 1900 THB.

If she wants to stay longer (after the 30 days are finished), she either

1- Leave Thailand by Land to a neighboring country and get when coming back 15 days on Entry

2- Leave Thailand and return by Air and get when coming back 30 Days on Entry

3- Leave Thailand, Visit a Thai Consulate (Vientiane or Savannakhet (both in Laos) or somewhere else) and get a double or a single Tourist Entry.
