PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO (BNO NEWS) -- Local authorities detained a group of seven foreigners suspected of leading a pedophile network in Mexico, officials said Friday.

The Attorney General's Office of the state of Jalisco informed that the seven foreigners, whose nationalities and identities remained undisclosed, were arrested in Puerto Vallarta, a popular beach resort, on suspicion of sexual exploitation of minors and child pornography.

Jalisco's government secretary, Arturo Zamora Jimenez, said the arrests were carried in the past two weeks, adding that the suspects were being sought by international authorities.

Jimenez gave few details regarding the arrests and crimes, but he said at least four of the suspects were American nationals. He said two of them were extradited, as authorities from the states of Texas and Wisconsin, among others, had placed orders for their arrests.
