we have a neighbour who has his hi fi (pa system) outside the house, all we get is boom boom often for hours. Wife says we cannot confront him so i want to give him a written message, mrs disagrees but I still intend to.I might add this neighbour is several houses up the soi and many nearer are fed up with it too, but typically will not say anything.

So how to write something like:

could you please keep the volume of your music down, especially the bass as not everyone wants to listen to it, thank you

That should be enough, no?

May I suggest you do confront him, despite your Mrs? Go talk to him politely but make your point firmly and tell him you can't sleep, end of story. There will be no bloodshed, motorcycle gangs or farang skulls dumped in the river. Your polite sign will be ignored, perhaps used as comic relief. If the people making the noise see that people who are bothered about it won't dare knock on their door to make point about it, how do you think its going to be perceived? Have me spell it out?

May as well learn to ask "Please kill me now" in Thai, though that may actually get a laugh.

How can you possibly know that no offence will be taken by the other party ??? There could be alcohol and drugs fuelling this need for loud music. There is normally a good reason why a wife says not to confront someone.

Thanks for an answer. I have found before in a similar situation that a simple note works, nobody loses face, no danger of an argument and nobody knows who complained. Not how i would do it at home, but here is no there.
