Info needed on work Permit /visa Change

Featured Replies

There is a similar post but it does not cover my situation.

I am English, 62, with Thai wife. In Thai on a 12 month Multi OA. I intend to extend to Retirement mid october 2013. I qualify financially. So far normal.

I have received offer of work outside of Thai involving effectivly me commuting several times a year, working about a week then coming back to Thai. No actual work in Thai other than the odd email and request to travel.

Do I need to change visa to OB with work permit for this situation ? or is it best to ask Immigration ? Thanks

Not at all.

Only work done while physically in Thailand requires a work permit, and e-mails requesting you to travel to work does not require one!

Get the extension, then get a multiple re-entry permit (3,800 Baht)so you can leave and enter as you please during your extension.

You'll just have to try to plan to be in Thailand the last 30 days of your extension so you can apply and get a new full year.

If you wouldn't be here during expiration of your extension, you would either need to get a fresh non immigrant O at an embassy/consulate or come on 30 visa exempt stamp and immediately convert to non immigrant O (2,000 Baht) followed by extension for 1 year (1,900 Baht).

Thanks. That's very clear.
