bigbamboo
Bluespunk, Chiang Mai Guy's it's Friday night, it's just a thread about some frakking cartoon picture of Col Saunders with Hitlers head on it selling fried chicken. It's not a thread about Global history lessons and the slaughter of millions. Thai kids probably know as much about Hitler as Vicky Pollard knows about the history of Siam, and the only thing most middle age Brits know about the History of Siam is it had something to do with Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr. Don't they have a happy hour near where you live? GJ can't let comments on genocide being something to forgive and forget. That sort of thinking sickens me and would ruin my happy hour(s) if I left it unchallenged. Sorry but that's the way it is. Do you eat pizzza ?....if you do then you must have forgiven the Roman's for the genocide they caused....if your so senstive about genocide..would would eat a burger called an "atomic burger", 250,000 killed using this weapon of mass destruction.in Japan.. Mankind is a nasty species and genocide has been going on since the beginning of human kind and will continue to do so until mankind is wiped off the plant... Greeks, Roman, Persian's in the past, Hitler/Stalin etc in the 20th century....furture ???...who know...all we don know is that it will happen again I don't think there's any conclusive proof the Romans invented pizza. But it is as Italian as the Mafia.

But as you say numbers are childish when the true horror of the nazi regime was its industrialisation of genocide. Ah yes, Bluespunk Going for the brass ring on that goddamned Hitler thing are we ? Popular Post fotog
When we relocated to Thailand we all left the 'politically correct' world behind. I see 'Black Man' mops here too. It is their country and if folks don't like it the only thing they can do is not support the business. As much as I love chicken, they won't be getting any of my baht. I see now that the 'Washington Redskins' may have to change their name because some folks find it offensive and 'racist'. I certainly do not miss all of the PC nonsense in the U.S.
ratcatcher
No doubt had this type of marketing taken place in the good old Monty Python days, it would have been respectfully ridiculed and left to rot. "Will that be the full order of Adolf's special crispy chicken plus a side of Goebbel's fries, plus a large Goering Iced Tea?" In most western countries this outfit would not be able to open it's doors, but being Thailand, the only likely outcome is that KFC might sue for identity or copyright theft. If there is such a thing here.

Popular Post davejones
it's the education system. I don't think these people actually admire Hitler but it's possible the school history syllabus didn't cover what he did and the millions he murdered. At least the chicken is pretty good... No need for Asians to learn about European wars. Europe doesn't teach children about Asian conflicts. In fact, I was never taught anything at all about Hitler or WW2 in the UK, Our history lessons were about stone age, Romans and other boring things. No modern history whatsoever. If I wasn't taught it in the UK, I can't see why Thailand should teach it. Most Westerners take these Hitler things too seriously. Just a few images. Just a name. It's funny. I think the point is they don't care what he did. (In reality neither do I, and neither did Prince Harry of the UK, and the uniforms look pretty snappy) I'm sorry, but are you really saying you don't care what hitler did? Don't care at all, nor do I care what Genghis Khan, Slobodan Milosevic, Stalin, the Japanese, the IRA, Pol Pot, et al did. It's in the past, forgive and forget. Those who have no past, have no future either. But talking to a victim of an unsuccessful abortion is a waste of time. Forgetting you are a Thai - no use, it's in your face and in your brain grey matter. Hoping to be an American - no use, they were actively fighting all the scum you mention. Bobbing up on waves neither here, nor there, you probably forgot the name of the substance that floats like you are. Usually I am extremely civil. But not with Hitler or his apologists. Who cares about you and your self-professed civility ? It's your ignorance and your logical fallacies that piss ME off. You need to read some primary documents for starters and wean yourself of Stephen Spielberg, Tom Hanks and the History Channel. Where do you think you are ? In some Freshman discussion group, getting a BIG lip on about BS that's been shoved down our throats for the last Seventy forking years by the very scumbags who are running "the banks". Grow a pair. I'm not trying to attack you but, by virtue of your own admission, if you had been taught to a different level you would not have written that last sentance. It's the lack or near absence of education on this subject that is the problem. I was born five years after the second world war ended and as a kid I would play in bombed out buildings, the damage of war was everywhere. At age sixteen I had to go on a school trip to Germany to see the place for myself and to understand what had happened. As a teenager and beyond I read avidly on the subject, I read Mein Kampf, Albert Speers memoirs Sven Hassels accounts and so on, I talked endlessly with my family and relatives who participated in the fight, I never thought that anyone could ever not know about what happened.

Bluespunk
If a cafe called Uncle Joe's opened with a pic of Stalin it would not raise an eyebrow. Luckily the Thais have not been infected with the Western guilt that the Zionists like to inflict, so they can get away with their own genocide in Palestine. It is not "Zionist guilt" or Zionist anything to be appalled by the holocaust or any genocide. As for going into a cafe with stalins image promoting it, no I wouldn't.
