silk-wrap extensions for guitarist's finger-nails in Chiang Mai ?

Sawasdee Khrup, TV CM Friends,

Unfortunately, for those (nylon-string guitar players) who want to sustain tremolo, break into fiery rasqueado, as much as they like strong picado (or pulgar) falsetas (those are not pizza-toppings) ... who have, by genetic inheritance, weak nails that break, and wear-down, easily: sometimes nail-extensions are the only way to fly (for a few weeks).

Has anyone noticed a nail-shop here that actually performs the much "lighter-weight" (compared to acrilyic graft-on, and gel-coating) nail-extension method using silk-wrap material ?

I guess I might as well ask, also, if anyone knows of a veterinary supply shop here that sells "hoof hardener" for horses' hooves (this is used "religiously" by many finger-style guitarists). fyi: I am aware of Biotin, Gelatin, and Onymyrrhe. It is tempting to think that since the plant/herb that led to Onymyrrhe was, allegedly, used to strengthen elephant's hooves, that it might be indigenous to S.E. Asia (one wonders: strengthen elephants' hooves ... for what ?).

thanks, ~o:37;

p.s. yes, I posted once before on roughly the same topic in March, 2012: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/542322-horse-hoof-hardener-like-keratex-in-cm/#entry5151864

But, there were no responses.

I can't speak to your specific item, but I can offer advice that works for my nails.

"Vitamin E" capsules. punctured with a pin and the oil spread on the nail, then (and this is the part that makes it actually work,) brushing it into the minute crevices in the nail with a stiff nail brush. I haven't cracked or split a nail since I started using this method.

I keep the nails on first three fingers of my right hand considerably longer that all the others, and play on steel strings which beat the hell out of nails, and this trick has helped me a lot!

You will have to stop chewing your nails.

Thanks Khun Harry,

Gumming the nails seems to have no effect on them.

Thanks, Khun FolkGuitar,

Yep, I done the Vitamin E thing a long time, seems to make no difference. Both Onymyrrhe and Keratex are quite expensive, not to mention the cost of importing them.

Glad to hear your nails are strong enough to play finger-style steel-string, and looking forward to hearing you play !
