Diving Knifes

Checked baggage is fine. Carry on, no way. You lose the knife. (You say Bangkok so I assume you are flying)

Over a land boarder it's no problem. Weapons laws in Thailand are vague, but section 371 of the Thai Criminal Code makes allowances for carrying weapons or items that can be used as weapons if they have an alternate use, such as for sport. You may also want to check the laws of the country you are travelling too. Some may have a blade length limit, and some dive knifes can be quite large.

I think it is well accepted that a divers knife is an essential part of a divers equipment, one should be sensible when transporting their equipment and keep knives in kit bags with your dive gear, of course if you chose to wear it on your belt in public then thats different and anyone who does deserves to be locked up.
