Thailand deny Chelsea mascot dumped for PM's son

Thailand on Wednesday denied a father’s claim that a boy chosen as a mascot for English giants Chelsea had been forced to make way for the prime minister’s football-mad son.

A government spokesman said the list of mascots for Wednesday’s pre-season friendly in Bangkok had been drawn up months in advance, rejecting comments by the boy’s father.

“Everything was done according to procedure,” the spokesman told reporters. “There is no way other names were taken off.”

The official was reacting to a claim by Kriangyos Sudlapha, who told the Bangkok Post that his son Noppadol, nine, had been set to walk out with the Chelsea players and had already gone through rehearsals.

But he said Noppadol and other mascots were then axed, with organisers telling him they had been replaced by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s son and other children of cabinet ministers.

But the official, who did not want to be named, acknowledged that most of the mascots were the children of VIPs or Singha executives.

Glad to see that the youngsters are shown how it's done from an early age whistling.gif

Maybe it was just time for a reshuffle. Or maybe the kid's performance was good enough.

Anyway, what's so unusual about being replaced by a member of the Shin clan?

This is just sad, the privileged take away this opportunity from children. Sometimes this place makes me sick.

She just made a claim that the Government was going to be transparent in all it's doings.

Well she is sure transparent in this one. Out of how many hundreds of thousand eligible kids in Thailand her son happened to be the best choice.

Speaking of transparency I wonder what she would look like if she was to wash all the make up off her face and just dry it.

Just wondering. That would be transparency wouldn't it?

It's good to be Thaksin's nephew the PM's son a spoiled rich kid.

spoiled brats-that's what I would call the replacements. sorry state of affairs ( if this is a true story) typical of transparency.

So it's all just a coincidence that the children of the political elite were chosen?

The spokesman's claim is just as big of an insult as this disgusting act.

Name all the kids who were mascots. That should settle the arguement. If it is a fact then i think it is disgusting.

If true then it's totally sick. I hope John Terry tells them to bugger off (which if he found out he would probably do).

Maybe, like a few others on TV, JT just fancies his Mum?

Well, the kid who got kicked out had already been a mascot in the Man U game, so I don't feel too bad for him missing out on the Chelsea game, but they should have found better ways of handing out the available places.

appalled at the selfishness of those in power ,that they cant give the average kiddy an even break ,privilege comes first

I am shocked but sadly not surprised, this hopefully will be another nail in their coffin.

Chelsea F.C. surely have an FB page or similar so they can be informed of this disgraceful behavior.

Chelsea FC won't give a monkey's about this issue.

Government kids should be given the RED card

I expect the kids who got axed are future Democrats for sure.

If i recall correctly, they were never legally married (registered)..

Small things amuse small minds.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how his kid was picked in the first place?

Only in soccer is the practice of having kids walk out with the players condoned. Rather childish for a silly game.

Even if this story is completely wrong it's so easy to believe because of the way this country and those who have clout operate.

Wonder when the boy's father will be threatened with a lawsuit ?

When too much is never enough!
