We don't see many drag racing videos on TVF

Maybe there are a lot of people who also find this to be the most boring form of car racing there is. Two cars go as fast as they can in a perfectly straight line for a few seconds .... yawn. It really only tests the drivers reaction time for the starting lights and the ability of the mechanics to make the car go fast.

Perhaps you miss the point of a sport. I took a dinosaur yank and worked on it with little money until in the end I could beat a brand new Ferrari on the strip. If you have never sat in a V8 monster that does a 0-60 in less than four seconds then you cannot comment. We all get our buzz from something, I got mine from G-force and sound. thumbsup.gif

(Previous post happened twice. Seems to be happening a lot lately)

May I add, that the most prestigious running race in athletics is the straight line 100 metre dash, wonder why when there are many roundy, roundy races. coffee1.gif

So, in YOUR OPINION, the 100-meter dash is the most prestigious race in athletics. It's so nice that you can express your opinion. (And isn't it cute that you can do that with a little icon thingy sipping a tea and reading -- so cute.)

I think the point is going back to the origional post if your interested in it why would you wait for somebody to post it on TV?

Sorry, don't quite understand.

LOL -- I thought it was the moderators who decide when we can't comment. Don't be daft! Of course I can comment.

In all fairness, I think you're the one missing the point. You talk about this sport from the perspective of someone who is involved in the actually modification and driving of these vehicles. That's a situation that very very few of us get to (or want to) experience. I've described the "sport" from the spectator's point of view, and for many people like myself it's very boring -- a lot of noise, burning rubber, and then 2 vehicles going in a straight line for a few seconds -- whoopy, lets wait for another 5 or 10 minutes to see few more seconds of boring racing.

Wrong, ''street'' car drag racing is a continuous flow of cars racing, as soon as a pair race another pair are burning out in preparation for their run, soon as a pair are safely in the return road the next pair race. Very different to Top fuel or Funny car racing.

Santa Pod Raceway 2013 on Youtube seem to have many fans of the Sport. I enjoy it more than Football, now that is BORINGthumbsup.gif

The meets I run at are called ''Run what you Brung'' or ''Test and Tune Day'' , great to find out if you have a ''quick'' car and not necessarily a fast car in a safe-ish environment. Seen many a guy do a run and get back looking rather dejected being beaten by a wreck or their car was not what they thought.

One day at the track a trailer came in with a hearse on it, no coffin though. It had a nitrous V8 in it. Yep, you guessed it, l got lined up against it, I thought,.............. ''shit, I will never live this down with the lads if l get beat by a hearse'' sad.png ...............Fortunately I was much quicker.

One of life's greatest spectator moments is to be watching near the start line when the Top Fuel dragsters take off. The burst of energy they release affects your body like nothing else I know!

Okay, so I don't have to wait a whole 10 minutes between races, as long as it's "street" car drag racing. However, I'm still yawning. Regardless of how long it takes to set up and run the next race, the main point of my post was completely ignored -- for most people its more boring than races that incorporate things like pit strategy, chicanes, hairpin turns, and driver skill/endurance.

You can continue to post that I'm wrong and tell me that I don't have the right to comment in this thread, I don't really care. (Not in an unfriendly way -- this thread just doesn't interest me anymore).
