42% said she could be an ethical role model ... not that she is.

quote

"Of those polled, 41.7 per cent named Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra as a role-model politicians when it came to virtues and morality."

Never never believe the Nation head lines until you have read the article they quite often differ.

I guess this 41.7 percent don't know about her seized assets or the pergury she committed under oath....or don't care.

Not quite. Perjury is no longer a crime in Thailand. It was dropped from the lawbooks when Yingluck had to lie in court to save the family finances and face. Remember that if you ever end up in a Thai court simply lie to every question asked(the more outrageous the lie the better) and you will be acquitted.

Not just in court. That is true throughout Thailand.

The survey found that 66.4% of respondents were able to correctly mark Asalha Puja Day as falling on July 22 this year. However, 74.2% of those surveyed were unaware of the significance of the major Buddhist holiday.

You can pretty much guarantee that 100% of that 74.2% couldn't even be bothered to find out, just follow the herd.

"Role model", "virtuous politician" What kind of ethical, moral or social values do these cretins ascribe too. She is a mindless mannequin with an IQ equivalent to her hat size at best , a ventriloquist doll who neither understands or appreciates the environment she operates in and utterly out of her depth and so full of herself that she fais to percieve that her exiled brother is simply using her. However having sid that she may well be in fact be truly representative of Thai culture as it exists today.

It must be disheartening for some of you that there are still many Thai people who admire the PM. cheesy.gif

It's incredible that some foreigners get their knickers in a knot over a nonsense poll.

Do you really think the poll result matters?

The Thais living a hand to mouth existence don't care for any of the political leaders. They never have and they never will. They are more concerned about paying the bills and feeding their families.

You're forgetting the '100,000 Club' who are always slated to turn up at Redshirt gatherings, though few of them ever seem to manage it.

Is this dross derived from the same sample group where 68% of those polled stated that corruption was/ is acceptable?

Yes.

The same pollsters who got their forecasts of the Bangkok election completely wrong.

They'd probably get a 50% yes vote to the question 'do pigs fly?'.

Does this indicate that 58.3% thought she was not a role-model for virtue and morality? coffee1.gif

Little wonder opinion polls are viewed with suspicion.

Don' know how long you have been in Thailand but the opinion polls are always taken in 17 provinces with around 1,500 to 2,000 people give or take a little.

They are bought by the various groups wishing to push there point of view. The polls always have the correct numnbers to prove the point you wish to pay for.

Thailand is the hub of what do you want to believe we have a poll to show it.

Consider with the Thai education system would 41% of the population know what the word ethical means.

I think the polls which there is a huge amount of here is a sign of a insecure Nation with little or no confidence in themselves and the direction the country are steered.
