Hi Im a new member, first post , are there any Kiwis out there that have tried to get a visa for a Thai friend /wife / girlfriend /family , from Bkk office . ? my friend tried for a 4 week visitor visa , Has good job (7years) ,money in bank, letter from employer stateing 1 month holiday ok, with job back ,had accommadation arranged in NZ etc etc , return airfares ,and they knocked her back ,reason she did not show enough proof she would return to Thailand ? she is 41years old with 2 grown children at University ,, I have since heard from friends/aqaintances that it is nearly impossible for Thais to get a visa to NZ ,even if they have sponsership, job offers etc ,and seems to be the same Thai woman at Embassy that refuses all applications ,,is this a NZ policy ? do they have a bias toward Thai females? I would be interested in any other experiances as i am going to take this further with NZ immigration in NZ..,I am embarrased that this is the face of NZ shown to visitors,, thanks, M

Welcome to the forum. I'll move this topic to the "Visas and Migration to other countries" section - should get some replies there.

Will leave a link in General for the time being.

Good luck with your query.

I don't know anything about NZ but she seems more than qualified for a visa to the US, UK, Schengenland or Oz. The denial sounds outrageous. There are several of these disgusting Thai battle axes employed in various farang embassies in Bangkok who seem to hate all Thai females that apply for visas. I have come across her soul sisters in the German and Swiss embassies when applying for visas for my wife.

The irony is that NZ used to let Thais in for 3 months without a visa. Now they seem to have gone full circle. I would advise your friend to take it up with his local MP and write to the papers in NZ and the Bangkok Post and The Nation in Thailand, as well as take it up with NZ Immigration. The latter will probably just support the battle axe without bothering to look into the case. He has nothing to lose by making as big a fuss as he can.
