Can anyone recommend a translation agency or know of a list of authorized translation services for the wife's Thai documents, which have to be translated when we apply for her Partner visa after returning from Oz before her tourist visa expires end of October 2013?

We tried ringing the VFS center, but they are not allowed to give this information, neither will the Australian Embassy. I know visa agents can supply valid translations, but we want to do the SP 47 and the SP 40 application for a temporary Partner visa ourselves. We just want the right people to do the translation of the wife's and other Thai documents into English.

We live in Jomtien, but are happy to have the translations done in Bangkok. We want to submit the visa application as soon as possible after we return to Thailand. Could someone also tell us how long it will take to have the documents translated and the approximate cost for each document. Any helpful advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hey there Northpoint.

Just wanted to say that, it's not that we don't want to answer your question, but in my case, I just have had the experience that you are asking for.

Just wanted you to know that we are not ignoring you.

There is a translation service next door to Thai immigration office in Jomtien, a while back they quoted me 500 baht a page. A few other offices in the same street that you might like to compare.

We had the wives docs translated at the -- Official Passport Centre , [ for thais ] Chaengwattana road , Nonthaburi , sorry , thats as close as i can get you. also , be aware , the translation may not be done the same day , depends on the amount , the time you arrive , the number of people ahead of you , and , i am assuming you will also need the translation certified / stamped ... which can officially be done in the same building ....... please telephone them to verify the above if using this info ....... good luck .

I think any large translation service should be able to do it. I think there are several in Pattaya.

The only list of translators that I have ever seen from an embassy is this one from US embassy. http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/translators_photographers.pdf

Hi Ubonjoe, The list from the US Embassy looks useful. I asked the question as I have read about instances, where translations were not recognized by the Embassy, as the translator was not deemed to be authorized to do translations. Thanks

Thanks for the information. I was not aware there was a translation service next to the Immigration Office. I have used multiple Non Immi O visas for the last few years and don't have to go to Jomtien Immigratien ofice for the 90 day reports. I do 90 day border runs instead. Ironically, I walk or drive past Jomtien Immigration in Soi 5 often, as I live only a short distance from it. I will have a look at the translation office tomorrow. Cheers

Hi Higgy, I am pleased to hear that the translations can be done on the same day, as we want to lodge the application as soon as possible, after we return from Australia. We will need to have the translation certified and stamped. If that can be done at the same office that would help as well. Thanks

HI northpoint, I cant help with a place near you as we had all ours done in Udon Thani, However we found a few services wanted to rip us off and charge around 9000THB and take up to a week.

The one we ended up using did all translations and certifications for around 2500THB, we droped them off in the mornining and picked them up the following morning. Had no problems at all.

We did our own SP 40 and 47 (and all previous tourist visas) and had no problems and a quick turnaround with no interveiw or phone calls. Good luck with it. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the applications, only too happy to share.

Hi, I used the service on the ground floor of the vfs building. Can't remember price, but that doesn't really matter too much, sometimes convenience is the way to go in Thailand, and having the translator and the visa people in the same building is great. Example, if you need something further translated, or clarified, they're right there so rather than hearing you need to go away and come back again, which I find painful in Thailand, you can just duck downstairs and rectify the problem and back up you go! Easy mate.;)

Mate it was a couple years since I've used them but most documents need to be certified and we only used their service. No contact details but they're on ground floor of vfs building in a little shop there. They did the job but I had to help them with spelling still. Its just the convenience of the location for us anyway. The only thing left for me now is my Australian born daughters birth certificate needs official translation back into Thai. But that's another thing..:D

Hey guys and apologies to intrude into your OP Northpoint, but can anyone think, and name some members who recently applied for an Australian Partner Visa?

My lassie will be starting her application in the next couple of months and I'd like to get their collective wisdom and then make a guide for here.

So, anyone recently you know ... doesn't have to be you, and I'll discretely contact them.

Thanks

I people are talking about the yellow shop translator on the ground floor of the thai cc building there details are

ANZ Educational Centre co.ltd

Ground floor, G8, Thai CC Tower

889 South Sathorn Road, Yannawa

Sathorn, Bangkok 10120 Thailand

Fax +66 (02) 6723865

Tel +66 (02) 6723866

They can certify the translations for you and even drop them off to VFS if you need.

Cost was 400baht per page, and I had no problems with the embassy excepting the translations.

Hi David, How recent are you talking? I did my wifes fiancee visa last June and followed that up this May with the tempory residents visa, Have filled out plenty of 40sp and 47 sp forms. all had very quick, successful outcomes. I am happy to talk to you anytime.

cheers Wazzi

Thank's for the info Surin,

Mate u wouldn't know how long they take to do the translation's by any chance?

Might just depend on how busy they are at the time,

And also how was the quality of the translation's?

Posted

It's takes a day to do the translations, but if you are short of time, you can lodge you application, give them the number and they will drop it of up stairs.

The quality of the translations are fine, I even had one of there translations check by another translator in Australia and they said it was fine.

You have to help them with the English spelling of names, but this is because thai names can be spelt different ways in English, so it's important they match on all your documents.

The people that do the translations are visa agents and do a lot of student visas to Australia, so understand the Australian system well.

If you want translations done in Australia you are looking at around $30aud per page.

Very helpful.

We alway's write down the Thai names and let them know how we want them spelt,as to match up to the other documents,

I'll drop in and see them next week.

Surin13 is right about helping them translate names. Keep that in mind, especially if it's being cross referenced with id cards etc. A misspelling could cause confusion for vfs and we don't want that.

Hi fella's just getting back to this topic with some more info , i ended up using ANZ translation on the bottom floor of the cc tower where the VFS office is located.

Overall very happy with them, i only had a couple of pages of the house book to be translated. 300 bt for each page picked up the next day.

Same as a previous poster wrote they said if i need anything else translated or dropped into the VFS office they could also do this for u.

Good service.
