Pheu Thai execs urgently discuss Amnesty Bill debate preparations
By English News

BANGKOK, July 29 - Leaders of the ruling Pheu Thai Party stood firm today that the government's controversial Amnesty Bill will be debated in the Lower House as planned.

Members of the Pheu Thai strategy committee met to discuss preparations to deal with protests against the bill, when the new session of Parliament opens Thursday.

The legislation is slated for debate in the House of Representatives August 7 as proposed by the government whip. The bill was submitted to Parliament in the previous session.

Amnuay Klangpa, chief of government whips, said the Pheu Thai Party was not concerned by a planned rally against the bill by the so-called People's Army to Overthrow Thaksin.

Anti-government leaders said last week that the group, which they said included a nationwide membership, strongly opposed the bill and any move to whitewash ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra. They vowed to rally in Bangkok on Thursday.

Mr Amnuay charged the opposition Democrat Party with creating internal conflicts which led to many deaths, but it has never initiated any amnesty move.

It (the opposition) has left the burden to the Pheu Thai Party which should be appreciated for what it has been doing, he said.

He said the Amnesty Bill will definitely not be debated on the first day of the new parliamentary session, as claimed by Democrat MP Ong-ard Klampaiboon.

An interpellation was to be raised in Parliament on Thursday on the justification of a debate of the Amnesty Bill on August 7, but not a deliberation of the bill, he said.

Mr Amnuay called on all MPs to carefully give their opinions on the Amnesty Bill during the debate on August 7 which should take one full day. (MCOT online news)

Err, no . . . that would be the Reds when they rioted on the orders of Thaksin.

So now they want thanks for trying to whitewash criminals? The gall of these thieving corrupt wan%&$s.

Holy Sh*t, if that isn't the pot calling the kettle black. The overall division and conflict comes down to one convicted criminal in self-imposed exile and his cult of worshipers. Screaming red leaders brought the mayhem on themselves in 2010. Som nam na.

Poor PT, left with the burden of destroying the rice industry while making sure they get their cut, the burden of ensuring that no one points out the catastrophic scale of their economic incompetence, the burden of getting bills through that allow a lot of skim for themselves and of course the burden of making sure no one has to answer for any criminal endeavours, past, present or future (at least not their friends and family anyway). The poor dears!

I'm sorry, but I don't think it was the democrats who caused the internal conflicts. Had to deal with those created by PT, but created---don't think so.

Double, double toil and trouble, fire burns and cauldrons boil. What will become of the *****es brew?

The scene is set for the biggest sell out and total betrayal of a nations people in history, total dictatorship,,debt bondage mob ,rule and revenge at any price all at the behest of a professional megalomaniac, interesting to note that Hun Sen one of Thaksins bosom buddies and a role model has yet again been re-elected amid many accusations of rampant dishonesty.

The ordinary man and woman in the street have slow burning fuses, however when that fuse hits the powder it is going to become very violent,

Thaksin and his family along with their brown nosing acolytes should indeed tread carefully.Riding roughshod over the masses works for a little while but then the masses rise. ''Let them eat cake'' won't be worthwhile repeating.

Don't be so cocksure that there are no cohesive opposition groups in existence.

This could well be the watershed of a debacle the like of which Thailand has never witnessed before in its own borders
