Bought 6 green apples imported from nz for 120b at tops supermarket .. i think it is not cheap..

is this the market price in CM?

Its a steep price to pay but seems fairly typical of Tops. Try Macro,,,,they do NZ Gala apples as well. You'll never get them as cheap as back in NZ but I suppose that goes without saying!

No, he didn't get 6 NZ apples for 15 Baht. In fact 15 THB won't get you 6 apples from China!

Remember that fruit etc from Oz, NZ etc is not subsidised by their governments, so there's no built-in discount, nor export incentives.

Certainly any fruit or veg seems to be a lot cheaper at Makro, and no doubt the local markets.

2 Kilo bag of excellent apples at Makro: 79 baht.

(Not sure it was two kilos, I can check. Was a lot more than 6 though.)

I would have thought that buying ALL your fruit and veges at the various markets around town would make more sense.Not only are they usually fresher but the overheads,rent, and associated costs ,including refrigeration, of a supermarket obviously go onto the end price.

That's almost $5 sgd for 6 apples ...I think you know they are expensive even compared to Singapore :-)

But there are various buying options ...I normally get mine at Makro as suggested ..

I get green apples from USA at Rimping for much less than that. They are usually tasty with a nice crisp texture.

However, milk at Makro today up from 75 baht last Friday to 89 baht (Foremost, whole milk, 2L). All brands up a very significant amount but the staff couldn't give us a reason for this jump of close on 20%.
