Trang Woman Shot Dead For 'Trying To Break Up Fights'
By Khaosod Online

TRANG: -- An 18-year-old woman was shot dead in Trang province after she reportedly tried to break up a fight between a man and his wife.

The woman was identified simply as "Maam" by Mueang district police. Mr. Wirojna Paduka, a friend of the victim, told police he and Ms. Maam and another mutual friend of theirs were riding motorcycles around the town on the night of the incident.

Mr. Wirojna said he had spotted a friend of his, called "Nen", fighting with his wife on the roadside, so the group stopped their motorcycles and tried to break up the fight. However, Mr. Nen reportedly pulled out a handgun in anger, which sent Mr. Wirojna and his friend fleeing into the near wooded area.

He said Ms. Maam failed to run fast enough, so Mr. Nen shot her dead before he fled the scene.

The police are still searching for Mr. Nen and his wife.

I would bet alcohol was a contributing factor.

This is only one side of the story, almost certainly not true.

You may find that 'mia' is translated as wife whilst 'girlfriend' or even 'date' would be more appropriate in Englsh.

I live in the town. She was a young innocent 18 year old who tried to stop a heated roadside dispute between the two - man and wife. When the guy pulled out the gun the boys ran off, she got back on her bike to try and ride away but could not pull away fast enough the guy shot her in the head. Then him and his wife got on another bike and fled the scene. Neither have been seen since. sickening!

Life is so cheap in Thailand. Is it lack of education, discipline, consequences, religion, other...?

Maybe in the playground that is Thailand, only child-like mentality exists.

A waste of life for trying to be a good samaritan...

Maybe in the playground that is Thailand, only child-like mentality exists. Nothing 'maybe' about it, they (the vast majority) are all ill educated cretins.

Here we go again, making derogatory statements about Thai's. It appears that these people making the comments have been living in a utopia. This was caused by a person who has little control of his emotions and used a weapon for courage.

It happens all over the world, if want to see bad times go to Chicago, or New York, and try to stop a fight. You will be dead. There are rabid dogs in every country. Some people feel that a weapon gives them power. There are some highly educated people that kill police in night clubs, and nothing happens. coffee1.gif

fortunatly ,we dont all come from sad countries, that have guns in every house .......some of us are real men,but i take your point, still waiting to meet a real thai man,,,who can act like a grown-up..take care

Here we go again - Change countries happens all over the world. But are the percents the same? Who is living in utopia ? The subject is on a Thailand forum about an event in Thailand. And by making some bs/liberal excuse as to why it happened shows you have no control about what you are talking about. What kind of male needs a weapon against an 18 year old girl ?
