BANGKOK: -- Police on Tuesday issued an arrest warrant against former deputy interior minister Pracha Maleenont, for failing to show up to hear the Supreme Court's judgement on an alleged corruption case.

Pracha is the second defendant in the case against five former top officials and an Austrian company over alleged corruption in the purchase of fire boats and trucks for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration in 2004.

His disappearance forced the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions to postpone the judgement on the case to September 10. On the day, the judgement can be read even in Pracha’s absence.

The case also involved former interior minister Pokin Polakul, former commerce minister Watana Muangsook, former Bangkok governor Apirak Kosayodhin, and the Austrian supplier Steyr-Daimler-Puch Spezialfahrzeug AG.

Note, that's one of the most expensive surnames in the country!

There was no corruption involved. He was a member of TRT party, so no corruption.

He faces an arrest warrant but will it ever be enforced ?

The picture in the OP looks like a bad Thai copy of Hawaii 50.

Looked more like Pol Pot to me.

So what foreign country has he and/or will he flee to to avoid the verdict?

Maybe he's consulting with the various other living in exile Thai politicians to see about expat living conditions...

Wonder if Channel 3 will report this.

At least some more people in Thailand recognize(d) that there is a also a AUSTRIA, my home country, on that world and not only AUSTRALIA!

When I right remember, it was about 6.000.000.- Baht price per (small) Toyota? Based fire truck - finished in Thailand and (small) fire-extinguishing boat.

That should have some room for -kickbacks-
