Thanks + non-imm visa timing + KR2

Featured Replies

Hello

Firstly, just a quick big thanks to all the mods and every other informed person on Thai Visa for all the brilliant help you provide. clap2.gif If I knew who/where you are, I'd buy you a beer.

Secondly, I have two questions related to a visa application, which I will submit soon at Chaeng Wattana.

My 1-yr non-imm visa based on marriage to a Thai national expires on 15 Sept 2013. And I have to work for a few days in Malaysia from 2 October.

My question is: when should I apply for another 1-yr visa extension in order to receive the passport back with plenty of time to get the multi-re-entry in order to go to Malaysia? Can I apply from next week, say, 13/14 August?

My other question relates to the KR2 document (marriage registration). Do I/my wife need to get a new/upated KR2 from the Ampur (Bang Rak) or can we use the same one when we got married last March, which obviously I used for the original 1yr visa extension?

Any advice would be most useful.

Many thanks indeed,

C

You can apply 30 days early, but there is no guarantee that you will get the extension before Oct. 2. (The process does not require that you submit your passport). You either get 30 days from date of applying or 30 days from date your current extension ends (15 Sept).

You will need to get a single re-entry permit for the time while you are abroad during the 30 day consideration. And you must be back on the day they tell you to pick-up the final approval.

After final approval you can get a multiple re-entry.

(A re-entry permit is only valid for the duration of your current permission to stay).

My KR 2 is 15 years old. We have never been asked for an updated copy at Chaengwattana or at the Suan Plu Offices.

In other areas it has been reported that some Immigration Offices have asked for a current version.
