Double deckers above my lawn

Featured Replies

For a while now I have above a certain part of my lawn a lot of those insects with a double set of wings. I don't know the name, but they are brown-orange in color and mostly hang almost stationary but can move fast if neccessary.

It is only above a small part of my lawn.

I assume this might be a sign of something, if someone in the know could explain to me.

Dragon flies? Harmless, larvae emerge en masse after rain, mate and die soon after.

I looked up an image of dragonfly, and indeed that is what they look like.

Considered very lucky in China, and they eat mosquitoes. Double win.

There's been some discussion that their abundance is one of the indications that an area has a decent environment, but I've seen them in really "industrial" places.
