Retirement Documents etc

Hello all,

I have researched the necessary documents required yet am a little confused by some conflicting information out there.

I arrived back in BKK on 7 August with a Non-O visa issued in my home country. While I was at home I transferred the necessary funds to my Thai Bank.

I understand I need the following forms.

1. TM7 (downloaded from the net)

2. one 4 x 6 cm photo

3. Original Passport

4. Photocopy of the main page of my Passport; Non-O Visa; last entry stamp; TM6

5. Letter from my Thai Bank stating that at least 800k has been in the account for a minimum of 2 months.

Have I missed anything? One part that confuses me is I read on another site that the letter from the Bank must be dated within 7 days of application to Immigration yet I have to collect the latter one day before my application. This seems contradictory.

Do I need proof of address. I have lived with my partner in her home for several years (not officially married). Do I need to take her house book and if so does she need to accompany me or fill out some form?

I read that the fee is 1900 baht. Is this single entry or multiple entry?

Can I apply at the Nontaburi Immigration Office or do I need to go to Chaeng Wattana?

TIA

Where you apply is determined on where you live - you can only use the office serving your province. Recent experience with those living with friends/spouse is that a TM30 must be filed by the home owner so best she goes with you with her ID card and home register and copies to fill that in and provide your residence proof. Take several copies of everything if not Bangkok itself as they often need an extra set. There is no entry allowed on an extension of stay - if you want to keep it alive with foreign travel you must obtain single or multi re-entry permit prior to travel (can do at same time as extension) for 1k or 3.8k. Bank letter should be as current as possible.

Bank letter will confirm balance. Bank book and copies confirms the 2 months.

Bank letter the day before is policy at many offices plus bank book updated on same day you apply.

Where do you live? That determines where you apply.

Edit: Does GF own the place where you live? If no she will need rental contract to show along with TM30. She may also need copies of owners ID and house book.

Thank-you for the prompt reply lopburi. We live just over the Bangkok border in Nontaburi so Nontaburi I guess it is.

How long should I wait before applying? I wish to maximize the Non-O. I have read you can organize the 90 day reports so you can get 15 months out of a 12 month retirement visa. Is this true?

Apply within the last 30 days of your permission to stay.

You do not lose anything by applying early.

Do you have a single or multiple entry Non Imm O Visa?

If you have a multi entry visa you can do the extension during the last 30 days of any entry (but that will be a one year extension so visa would not be used after doing). You can get a new 90 day entry up to expiration date return to make almost 15 months stay on a multi entry visa but that is not an extension and you must leave every 90 days.

My Non-O was single entry and from the advice here it sounds like I should ask for a multiple entry when applying for the Retirement extension. At least that will save having to apply for a re-entry permit every time I leave the Kingdom. It sounds easier just renew the Retirement Visa when the time comes rather than do a visa run. Or maybe I have it wrong.

Apply during the final 30 days. 1,900 Baht.

A multi entry re entry permit will cost you 3,800 Baht

You re apply every 12 months showing the same documentation.

Dont forget to report to Immigration every 90 days you are in the country.
