UDON THANI: -- A vocational student in Udon Thani province has been kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend yesterday, according to her mother.

Ms. Thong (last name undisclosed), 51, said when she noticed it was already late in the night that her daughter, identified as Ms. Khaek, did not come home, she started to search for her.

Later, one of Ms. Khaek′s friends reportedly told Ms. Thong that she was kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend, Mr. Oor, who was dating Ms. Khaek 4 years ago.

Ms. Thong said that she believed Mr. Oor was upset once he knew that Ms. Khaek is going to marry her new boyfriend in a few months. According to Ms. Thong, Ms. Khaek complained that her former boyfriend was a "useless man".

Ms. Thong said that Ms. Khaek contacted her and said she was in the woods, but failed to identify the place. Ms. Khaek then became unreachable, causing Ms. Thong to worry that she might be dead.

Mr. Oor had beaten Ms. Khaek before, Ms. Thong said, so she feared that her daughter might get killed this time.

Police said they are working to locate and save Ms. Khaek from any harm.

Knowing how young testosterone-driven "Wai Lun" Thai hooligans "handle" their girlfriends (and ex-girlfriends "Think you were mine? You still ARE mine!"), I fear for the worst while wishing for Khun Thong that she will get her daughter back alive and unharmed.

Why Khaek's face is obscured in the article is also a huge mystery to me as it does not really help to find her... Thailaeeeeenn!!!

Agreed wholeheartedly. She needs ID of her full photo on a just in case you see her and also ID name age photo of the abductor if known.

It is agreed also, life is cheaper here and a young girl, especially if she is attractive, cheaper still.

Are we opportunists, taking advantage of it? Or what?

So, it seems that Ms. Khaek's friend was aware earlier in the day the the girl had been kidnapped but didn't do anything to let anyone know. Seriously?!?!? If this isn't a wake up call for Thais that they need to be given a real education that includes some logic and reasoning skills, can anything wake them up?

Of course, we hope this young lady is reunited with her family unharmed.
