BANGKOK: -- Ikea, the world's leading furniture chain, has recalled two junior beds after several reports of a broken metal rods which expose sharp edges and could injure a sleeping child.

The leading furniture chain issued the recall across the world after a number of the beds had suffered the fault. The concerned models are called Kritter and Sniglar, and over 10,000 beds have been sold in Sweden alone.

The recall, announced by IKEA on its national websites, concerned several countries including its native Sweden and Thailand.

Other countries affected are Belgium, China, Czech Republic, Ireland, Israel, Luxembourg, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Switzerland and Turkey.

To avoid children cutting themselves on the sharp edges, customers can return the bed, exchange it at the store or pick up a free repair kit, IKEA said.

Anna Pilkrona Godden, Swedish spokesperson for IKEA said about 10,000 beds of the two models had been sold in the Scandinavian country, but she was unable to specify how many beds had been sold abroad.

Then the children can cut themselves on the free repair kit.

Maybe they could throw in some free meatballs to compensate for the poorly designed beds.

Also I notice the gap between the bed frame and rail is too wide. A small child can get his head stuck and choke to death.

if this were a thai company their would be no recall, warnings, refund or anything else , they would just take the money and run, no resposability at all , so stop whingeing about a resposible european company showing thais how an honest business should be run !

If this were a Thai company, instead of 2, there would have been 199, whingeing and bashing posts before yours.

And yours would make up to the even 200. thumbsup.gif

Funny how so many IKEA stories get into Thai visa.

It's a product recall. Happens all over the world every day. A good responsible company does things this way.

I guess that if there hadn't been a recall of faulty items or horse in the meatballs, there also wouldn't have been stories about on Thaivisa coffee1.gif

There was horse in thousands of products. I've still got some spag bol sauce in the cupboard from Tesco. You think Ikea's products in Thailand were the only ones to have some horse.

nice to see a company being so up front and that it's policies extend as far as Thailand.

Toyota's had a few issues globally the last few years. Any news on Thailand?
