August 17, 201312 yr Discovered a twitter site where people share all kinds of largely odd vintage photos. Then randomly happened upon this intriguing one. 1917 -- Sailors On A Landship https://twitter.com/VintageWTF Click to enlarge. What's with the guy with the goat!?! So now would like to see MORE such curious vintage photos of Urianian Life Before Stonewall. This could be fun. Of course post nothing here that is remotely pornographic, wink wink nod nod say no more say no more. Just used the archaic term Uranian here just for fun in keeping the vintage theme: "To have altered my life would have been to have admitted that Uranian love is ignoble. I hold it to be noble - more noble than other forms." Oscar Wilde Edited August 17, 201312 yr by Jingthing
August 17, 201312 yr Author This one not humorous, but charming. A loving couple, circa late 1800's USA:
August 17, 201312 yr I thought this was the GAY forum. There is nothing to indicate that any of those pictured are GAY any more than that they have a preference for bestiality, or that the two in the second photo are anything more than brothers rather than a "loving couple". While this sort of thing may be at home on a personal blog it has little to do with GAY issues, views or news. Just my opinion.

August 17, 201312 yr Author fine call them vintage "potentially gay-looking" photos. Good and I didn't even say gay, I said Uranian, so there! Brothers? World War I era England Undated Yeah, sure thing, that's the ticket ... Oh we got "sisters" too ... 1915 Edited August 17, 201312 yr by Jingthing
August 17, 201312 yr Author You know, thinking about this a little more, I think photos more like the FIRST ONE, funny and quirky at least some POSSIBLE Uranian content would be much more interesting than just simple pictures of old time same sex couples, charming though they might be. I think it would be a lot harder to find these funny ones (as the dancing sailors) but definitely more entertaining. If that's the only one that anyone finds to post here, so be it, but I'd sure love to see more photos like that. Edited August 17, 201312 yr by Jingthing
August 17, 201312 yr there is a famous series with a donkey and a dog, but i suspect thats not quit what you're after
August 17, 201312 yr Author Oh, please. The pic is MOSTLY sailors dancing with each other. The goat thing just adds some quirky FLAVA to the scene. I'm thinking ... birria. I also love the two guys standing all lonely in the back. What are they thinking? Edited August 17, 201312 yr by Jingthing
August 18, 201312 yr Author http://www.lgbthistorymonth.org.uk/history/vintage/images_vintage16.htm (Fun graphic image here, but copyrighted, so click to view) Well, turns out it really is hard to find vintage photos OTHER THAN COUPLES that are both quirky/funny and at least ambiguously gay to some degree. Maybe I'll keep trying but it's a bit frustrating. For now, here's a "couple" photo with a "family": OK, to clarify again, the target photos here: Vintage (a must) Quirky and/or Funny Just regular gay or ambiguously gay couples not so much Gay or ambiguously gay couples with some quirkiness/humor OK Happy hunting. (If you care.) Edited August 18, 201312 yr by Jingthing
November 21, 201312 yr Author Some photos of old timey male affection, etc.: As you make your way through the photos below, many of you will undoubtedly feel a keen sense of surprise — some of you may even recoil a bit as you think, “Holy smokes! That’s so gay!” The poses, facial expressions, and body language of the men below will strike the modern viewer as very gay indeed. But it is crucial to understand that you cannot view these photographs through the prism of our modern culture and current conception of homosexuality. The term “homosexuality” was in fact not coined until 1869, and before that time, the strict dichotomy between “gay” and “straight” did not yet exist. Attraction to, and sexual activity with other men was thought of as something you did, not something you were. It was a behavior — accepted by some cultures and considered sinful by others. http://www.artofmanliness.com/2012/07/29/bosom-buddies-a-photo-history-of-male-affection/ Edited November 21, 201312 yr by Jingthing
