August 17, 201312 yr i bought a panasonic 4ft x 2ft fridge for my bar one with a small ice box at the top,the last 6months or more it is iceing up after its been defrosted within 8-10 days and my drinks are not getting cold.its only about 3yrs old so its p-ssing me off.defrosted it last sun and already it has iced up inside and out,so i cant close the door anyone has any idea what could be the problem.
August 17, 201312 yr I think AOA has it. A bad door seal or leaving the door open excessively will allow condensation from our very humid atmosphere to freeze and frost up the beast. Packing in too much beer could pressure the door just enough to crack the seal and allow air in. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
August 17, 201312 yr Yeah, we had the same problem, I glued the seal back on with super glue, ok now (10 year old battered wreck of a fridge).

August 17, 201312 yr That kind of ice box doesn't have a seal so it's just the wicked humidity. You might try putting in an open box of baking soda (or anything else that absorbs moisture) but that would need replacing after maybe a week. Or, keep in an air-conditioned room.

August 17, 201312 yr you may have an issue with the defrost heater, thermostat or timer. it seances the temperature on the coil inside the refrigerator and sends heat inside the refrigerator near the cooling coil to melt ice buildup. the ice buildup prevents the air incise the refrigerator from circulating around the cooling coil and your drinks do not get cold it is easy to change and relatively inexpensive . H thanks for that i think the problem is man made.as there are small holes in the bottom of the ice box [what are they for] i took out the drip tray to make room for wait for it 500ml.cans of cider so it looks like condensation is dripping onto the element under the ice box and that is freezing so the element after a few days is covered in ice and getting no cold air circulating inside.i have found the drip tray which has at the back a hole which lets the water drip into a container at the back.i was wondering why there hase never been any water in it.have to drink all the cans off the top shelf to make room.
August 18, 201312 yr Author got it,that will teach me to read the manual, the drip tray which i removed should be left in place and the ice box defrosted every WEEK using the defrost button and emptying the container at the back.i should have just bought a cooler without the ice box,oh well you learn something every week.
