I know my Thai gf more than 2 years, we live together in bkk. I'm a international student and don't have income. During the summer break i need to go back to Holland since my health insurance here is covered by my travel insurance company. I wish to stay 2 or 3 months and off course bring my GF as well.

I planned my mum to garanty for her. I picked up all the nescesary forms at the Dutch embassy last week. ( by the way, i noticed they moved, got at the wrong address first, so check first if you plan to go there).

One of the requirements for the guarantor is 'Proof of income'. My mum is happily divorced and financialy independent. She has no income, work, business or what so ever. Only a stockpiled bank account. She only does a lot of trading on the stock markets on her laptop.

Big question... Can my mum still be the guarantor for my Thai GF? Really haven't got any other options so i must find a way to tackle this requirement. Will a copy of her bank account papers do the job? :o

Please advice.

Just me,

Just me,

Yes your Mum can be the guarantor.

She needs to write a letter to that effect and attach proof (copies of bank books, statements, etc.

I am not usre for Holand but for Belgium that letter must be legalized by the authorities 8generaly the Ministry of Foreingn affairs or an Embassy).

She wll also guarantee that the GF can stay at her home during the holiday

Good luck

Hello,

Finally I'm in Holland together with my Thai GF! :D It took me over a month to get the visa. It was no problem for my mom to get the right papers to garantee for her. As well it was easy to obtain a letter of invitation from the local cityhall in Holland. Biggest problem was the embassy in Bangkok. Somehow they wanted to be sure I returned to Thailand together with my GF. I asked them many times why they wanted to be sure I returned to Thailand, they never told me, they just said get the papers fixed. I needed to show proof that I was to continue my study in Thailand and they wanted the uni to send the proof, as well I needed a return ticket on the same date as my GF. Sadly the uni was not willing to cooperate in faxing some papers so I had to find a way to work around that, in the end I faxed them myself.

In one of the first forms we had to fill in they asked for the dates we wanted to stay in Holland. As they don't allow you to buy a ticket and excact dates where unsure to me I justed pinned a 90 day hole in the calandar. This gave big problems.

The embassy called me and told me:" We don't understand you! You got all the rigth papers but how can you forget a flight booking?" I picked up all required forms from the embassy a couple of weeks before and none of them stated the requirement of a flight booking. It only mentioned we where not allowed to book a ticket until the visa was approved. So I asked back:"How was I supposed to know?" so the embassy said:"That information is on our website!" So I told them that was none of my business as I had assumed the forms I picked up from the same embassy where correct.

So we went to a travel agent and got ourselves a flight reservation. as the dates where not fixed and would most probably change I booked for the 90 days hole I had pinned in the calandar.

Than the embassy called with my uni and asked when the new acadamic year started. The uni told a date somewhere in june. The embassy called me and I had to explain why I wanted to return in the end of august while my study started somewhere in june. I told them the date in June was incorrect. It was the start of the voluntary summer semester, not the start of the acadamic first semester.

Then they called again and asked why I wanted to return in the end of August since the first semester started half August. I told them I justed pinned a 90 day hole in the calander and was still unsure of my return date because they did not allow me to buy a ticket and I was not sure I was able to obtain a flight on the specified dates.

In the end they forced me to change the flight reservation. No problem but again I had to go all the way to the travel agent to change it. Finally we got the visa!!! She got a 80 days visa.

The immigration at Amsterdam airport went smoothly. The officer asked me:"This lady will stay with you?" "yes" "How long?" "80 days.", checked my pasport for stamps and saw many Thai ones dating some years back and we where in Holland.

Now I enjoy being her tour guide and tourist in my own country, so cool. Anyone else, good luck obtaining a visa! :o

It's me,

Kevin
